About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Team Leader for the fast-growing Steel T eam of RNGD . The ideal candidate will provide overall leadership and direction from b usiness d evelopment through operations while also embodying the company’s culture and core values. This role has overall P&L responsibility for Steel projects and is accountable for contract negotiations and project budget and billing management. Prior t eam management experience in a high-growth , dynamic business is essential, as the leader will manage a team of 12 + (and growing) project managers, estimators , steel fabricators, erectors & skilled laborers . The Steel Team Leader will be successful at building a capable, efficient and best-in-class team a s well as a profitable business by bringing a wealth of industry experience with them and fostering relationships with operational and senior leaders across all the RNGD serv ices , ultimately delivering o n the steel capabilities and meet ing overall company strategic initiative s and goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations:
Act as the “common thread” that owns projects from Prospect through Closeout and beyond
Manage and lead multiple teams and projects simultaneously while optimizing processes to achieve targets in safety, budget, schedule, quality control, and raving fans
Act as the pre-construction lead, working closely with the estimating & operations team to develop project specific budgets, schedules, and logistics plans
Manage, oversee, and innovate shop & field operations, processes, specialized equipment, and procedures in the spirit of continuous improvement
Stay current on policies, practices, and trends in the industry and the competitive landscape
Relationships:
Develop and maintain long lasting relationships with clients, the design community, subcontractors, vendors, and various organizations to enhance future business opportunities
Attend owner and project meetings to maintain continuous client contact and gauge performance perceptions to communicate relevant information to team members
Foster existing client relationships to secure repeat business
Continuously participate in industry associations, communities, and boards to contribute to industry thought leadership
Leadership:
Champion shop & jobsite safety efforts and motivate the teams through the best practices of RNGD’s Safety Program
Develop and maintain a high-performance team through recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and mentoring team members.
Contribute to overarching strategic initiatives and develop creative solutions to solving company challenges
Set appropriate milestones and assign tasks and projects to team members that leverage their strengths and interest
Provide leadership in business judgment and all financial and profitability aspects of projects
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management or related field.
10+ years of progressive work experience in steel fabrication, installation and/or manufacturing.
5+ years of Steel Team leadership experience.
Deep understanding of project level accounting and effective project financial management.
Working knowledge of AISC certification and annual audit process
Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence conversations and teams
Understands exceptional preconstruction services are what truly differentiate a construction firm and knows how operations supports those services
Track record for spotting, recruiting, developing, and retaining talent
Ability to quickly adapt to regular, fast-changing corporate and external environments
Mastery of change management and ability to translate strategic vision into action
