Digital Media Specialist

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Creates engaging content for both internal and external dissemination across various digital platforms, including Department social media and website platforms. Collaborates with the Director of Special Projects to ideate and execute strategies that increase awareness of department-related events, programs, and initiatives. Performs related work and duties as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Special Projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Creates compelling visual content including photography, videos, and graphics for Department events, program showcases, trainings, and other relevant activities;

Collaborates with the Director of Special Projects to brainstorm and identify innovative content ideas to enhance Department visibility and engagement;

Manages and maintains the Department's social media presence by curating, scheduling, and posting engaging content across all platforms;

Executes basic photo editing tasks to ensure high-quality imagery for various digital channels;

Employs strong video editing skills to craft narratives and stories that effectively communicate the Department's mission and initiatives;

Ability to work independently to meet various deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and organization;

Ability to adapt quickly, responding efficiently and effectively to time-sensitive projects;

Exercises thorough substantive knowledge of office policies procedures and operations of the Department and exercises knowledge of assigned office or division;

Flexibility and ability to learn and perform new duties and skills as assigned; and

Other duties and assignments as the Sheriff may request from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media, Communications, Marketing or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred; demonstrable three or more years of direct or related experience in photography, videography, and social media management is preferred; or a combination of education, experience and training;

Ability to type and write required;

Ability to perform duties with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality required;

Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form required;

Intermediate level of proficiency in various editing software for both photo and video content preferred;

Comprehension of social media analytics and ability to use data to drive content strategy;

Ability to work accurately and independently in a fast-paced environment;

Ability to interact with employees and the public in a pleasant and discreet manner; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels throughout the organization, in other agencies, and in private industry; high levels of customer service, independence, leadership;

Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work with co-workers and consultants; self-motivator, ability to meet project deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously is essential;

Ability to complete moderate to complex level of qualitative and quantitative analyses; strong analytical and problem solving skills are required; attention to detail is crucial; need for creativity, flexibility and organizational skills;

Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to learn and perform new duties and skills as assigned;

Thorough knowledge of Department policies and procedures is preferred; and

Valid and renewable driver's license is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Creation of a variety of visual content for Department use;

Manage and maintain Department's social media presence across various digital platforms

Editing of photo and video materials for Department use;

Regular, punctual and predictable attendance at assigned workplace. Ability to work occasional nights or weekends on specific projects if necessary;

Knowledge of, compliance with, and enforcement of Department policies and procedures;

Compliance with security procedures;

Obeying moderately complex oral and written orders;

Communicating effectively both orally and in writing;

Able to independently initiate a project, execute the necessary steps, and complete in a timely and effective manner;

Dealing calmly and effectively with stressful situations, including emergencies; and

Exercising good judgment.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Effectively communicate orally with employees and the public;

Daily use of personal computer and other technology for editing, creation and distribution of visual content;

Sit or stand periodically for 8 hours;

Lift up to 30 pounds;

Carry up to 30 pounds;

Climb stairs periodically;

Walk short distances; and

Write and type.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

Participation in mandatory training.
