A Day In The Life of an A&P Mechanic
The position you are applying for is under general supervision. You are responsible for the maintenance, modification, and servicing of engine components in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and FARS.
Essential Duties of The A&P Mechanic
Perform routine scheduled maintenance and aircraft inspection by ACC’s, OEM, AND/OR current manufacturers' specifications.
Read and interpret aircraft engine maintenance manuals and specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Modifies aircraft engine systems or components following drawings, engineering orders, and technical publications.
Assemble and install electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories using hand and power tools.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs to minimize aircraft downtime. Requires ability to travel.
Review maintenance records and flight logs to schedule prescribed maintenance checks and overhauls.
Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes completed.
Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
One to two years of technical college/training or equivalent
Certifications/Licenses:
FAA Airframe and Powerplant
Minimum Experience:
Up to three to five years more experience
Preferred Experience:
Up to six years or more experience
Skills:
Interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of an aircraft engine- parts/components
Problem solving and independent decision-making skills
Good communication skills
Exercise good judgment in working with people in a team environment as well as in aircraft maintenance and safety.
