The Sr. Manager of Communications will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives. The role will focus on internal communications, social media engagement, and employment brand management. The Sr. Manager of Communications will provide compelling storytelling to reinforce Fortis culture and values and build employee engagement.

Responsibilities Develop and execute communication strategies that align with the goals and objectives of Fortis.

Manage internal communications, including drafting and editing company-wide communications, internal website content, internal meeting content/materials, and other internal communications.

Provide the editorial “voice of the company” to ensure consistency in messaging and that communications to all employees reflect the unique culture and values of Fortis.

Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy for the Fortis corporate website, in partnership with the Marketing and Employee Experience teams. This includes creating, editing, and publishing engaging content that is reflective of the unique culture and work environment of Fortis.

Develop and manage the company’s social media presence, including creating and publishing content across various social media platforms.

Partner with the Marketing Team to support external communications and messaging associated with corporate brand management.

Manage the company’s employment brand, including developing and executing recruitment marketing campaigns in partnership with the Employee Experience Team and managing the company’s career site.

Advise senior leaders on strategic communications plans, change management communications, and tactical communication channels.

Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, senior leaders, and other members of the Shared Services teams.

Manage the company’s internal communications budget.

Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position’s and team’s objectives.

Please note that this role does not include Media Relations, Public Relations, Investor Relations, or Advertising.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or at least 8+ years of experience in communications with progressive role growth

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to negotiate and resolve issues with diplomacy and persuasiveness.

Can meet deadlines with high attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional team, and with team members at all levels of the organization.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Ability to handle highly confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

Proven track record of delivering effective corporate communications, change management, and employee engagement strategies.

Proven ability to lead a high performing team including identifying needed resources and assembling a team.

Must possess a valid drivers license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance to Fortis policy.

Physical Requirements Work is performed in a professional office environment. Role is stationary, often standing or sitting for long periods of time, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Communication with internal and external contacts, including speaking and hearing is required. May occasionally push, pull or lift up to 25 lbs.

Travel Requirements All Fortis positions require some level of driving.
