Requirements:
- At least 5 years hands-on technical experience with operating, maintaining and configuring HP SiteScope.
- Knowledge of requirements and best practices for systems management support of Windows and Unix.
- Strong knowledge of HP BSM, BPM, OM and other enterprise class monitoring tools
- Proficiency with Unix/shell scripting, Perl or python and PowerShell
- Strong interpersonal skills for written, oral and face-to-face communications
- Solid understanding of agent-based and agent-less monitoring best practices
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and SNMP Management Protocols, SSH, WINS, NetBIOS, DNS.
- Experience working with and monitoring web applications, UNIX and Windows servers, load balancers, MSSQL, Oracle databases, Java, .NET, Apache, REST and SOAP/XML web services.
- Configure, test, and release monitoring tools associated with managing and reporting of networks, systems and services utilizing:
o HP Business Service Management (BSM)
o Business Process Monitor (BPM)
o Universal Configuration Management Database (uCMDB)
o SiteScope, Operations Manager for Windows (OMW)
o Performance Manager (OVPM)
o Operations Manager (OMi)
o Network Node Manager (NNMi).
- Must have experience establishing, maintaining and following documented processes and procedures.
Desirable Skills and Traits:
- Experience in operating, maintaining and configuring SiteScope.
- Experience working in an enterprise environment.
- Experience working with and monitoring web applications, UNIX and Windows servers, load balancers, MSSQL, Oracle databases, Java, .NET, Apache, REST and SOAP/XML web services.
- Ability to clearly document procedures, communicate effectively in email and meetings.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and SNMP Management Protocols, SSH, WINS, NetBIOS, DNS.
- Able to work independently, set priorities, investigate issues and develop custom solutions.
- Programming and scripting: UNIX/BOURNE/KORN shell scripting, PowerShell, SNMP; SQL query language
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and persistence. Ability to understand strategic direction and target architecture. Ability to understand cross-platform processes, and to document, develop and implement more efficient and reliable procedures.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to apply them appropriately in gathering requirements and making recommendations. Ability to develop relationships with individuals on the project team and with development and operations users.
Tasks to be performed:
- Design/build monitors using HP SiteScope, BPM, for UNIX, Windows, .NET, Java, REST and SOAP/XML Webservices.
- Work with development and app support to identify and close gaps in monitoring
