**ABOUT THE POSITION**
The North America Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) team focuses on our outlet, brand, and employee stores within the US and Canada. From merchandising to retail marketing to retail operations, there is a highly collaborative team working behind the scenes to ensure our consumers have a positive experience in our stores.
Columbia is looking for a Sr. Manager, Retail Operations to lead Workforce Optimization for North America Retail. In this role you will partner closely with senior leadership to ensure we invest in labor to fuel our growth while continuing to drive leverage for one of the companys largest controllable expenses. You will engage our field leaders to better understand store needs and drive labor performance across the fleet. This role will collaborate with corporate partners on process and technology improvements to increase store productivity and work closely with planning and finance teams to develop sales and labor budgets and weekly forecasts.
**HOW YOULL MAKE A DIFFERENCE**
* Manages team of managers, analysts, specialists, and engineers. Coaches, develops, and motives for best performance and contribution to Columbia Sportswear Company. Supports the successful day-to-day operation and initiative execution through collaboration and alignment on the labor and processes necessary to achieve objectives.
* Leads creation and execution of our strategy for optimizing labor. Drives labor productivity and ensures labor is used effectively to complete tasks and maximize sales potential. Manages complex labor standards to build labor budget using bottom-up approach. Forecasts KPIs and labor targets by store based on most recent trends and store performance. Seeks input on tasks and initiatives from retail partners to forecast the labor needed for execution.
* Partners cross functionally to support projects, educate corporate partners on the impact of their decisions to field employees, contribute meaningfully to decision making process. Collaborates with retail field management, operations, finance, merchants, planners, HR and other cross functional partners in the creation of workforce and labor planning best practices. Partners with HR teams to support compensation structure, pay practices, and retail bonus programs for field teams.
* Leads creation and distribution of labor and related KPI reporting to corporate and field leadership to drive labor performance. Gathers data from multiple sources to perform analysis and develop meaningful and actionable insights. Analyzes store metrics to establish productivity targets, census and staffing targets, and to ensure data-driven decisions are made. Provides other analysis as required.
* Leads the development and maintenance of a labor training curriculum to build labor acumen within the field organization. Ensures field leadership understands the labor model and effectively utilizes tools and reporting to drive staffing and labor performance. Engages leadership to ensure all provided labor hours are used to achieve business goals.
* Partners with Digital and HR Technology teams and other retail teams on the creation and maintenance of appropriate tools and software for workload planning, labor management, and reporting capabilities. Provides input into technology roadmap on system changes to improve employee productivity.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
**YOU ARE**
* Familiar with retail math and pricing strategies with an in-depth knowledge of open-to-buy and the financial planning process at the retail level.
* Proficient in manipulating data including statistical analysis and advanced math calculations.
* Organized with excellent presentation skills, attention to detail, and work accuracy.
* Strong in both written and verbal communication.
**YOU HAVE**
* Bachelor's degree, applicable certification, or equivalent experience with 8 years of professional experience.
* Advanced knowledge of retail sales analysis, workforce planning, and labor planning.
* Knowledge of the outdoor industry, consumer buying patterns, and retail dynamics.
* Experience developing, deploying, and measuring success of labor programs.
* Previous experience working with labor planning, scheduling, and timekeeping tools preferred.
