Dallas McKissack and McKissack (McK) is seeking a highly driven, trustworthy, personable, resourceful, and adaptable Safety Manager to serve in the Dallas, TX area. As Safety Manager, youll have the opportunity to expand the foundation of your career by joining an ENR top-ranked program management and construction-management-for-fee firm. You will be an essential member of our growing team by transforming our clients vision into a strategy, converting that strategy into a plan, and moving quickly into executable action. The **Site Environmental Health and Safety Manager** will be responsible for partnering with site-level construction, PM, and CM (operations) teams on the site as assigned to execute site EHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. The Senior Safety Manager must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
The **Safety Manager** must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise, and consistent messages verbally and in writing. This individual must instruct and train operations leaders and site EHS professionals in company EHS policies and assist the regional teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. The **Safety Manager** will be required to identify best practices and incorporate these best practices to continuously improve project safety. Must possess excellent safety program and relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic knowledge and demonstrates this expertise when working with Operations.
The **Safety Manager** will lead a team of safety managers and safety professionals at a site. This individual must create and execute leadership development plans for their team. This individual must communicate safety team expectations, give frequent and appropriate feedback to the safety teams, and ensure they are executing a safety professional's core competencies.
**Responsibilities**
* Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
* Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
* Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
* Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
* Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
* Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
* Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims
* Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
* Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
* Conduct or oversee post-accident investigation of all accidents and near misses within 24 hours of an incident; write a job-hazard analysis; provide applicable safety reports to HR to submit workers compensation carrier reports
* Ensure Superintendents are holding safety meetings and review and maintain Safety Minutes in central file.
* Provides onsite safety oversight of ongoing construction operations by identifying unsafe conditions, safety hazards and health hazards, and follows up to confirm that issues have been addressed and corrected.
* Develops site-specific safety programs/plans to include emergency actions, response, evacuation, and security plans.
* Ensures that worksites have all the required safety, first aid, and fire prevention equipment and are in good working condition.
**Requirements**
* Rail experience required
* Proven experience as a **safety manager**
* Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
* Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
* Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
* Excellent organizational and motivational skills
* Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
* BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
* Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
* Instructor-level Certification preferred to teach OSHA 10, 30 courses, CPR/First Aid/AED
* Must possess a valid state-approved driver's license and reliable transportation.
