Summary:

Oversees the day to day activities of the Emergency Services team. The Team Leader will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the provision of high-quality crisis intervention emergency evaluation and care coordination to consumers of all ages who present with behavioral health needs. Directly responsible for clinical and administrative supervision of all clinical staff activities addressing complaints and concerns of consumers and providing direct clinical care as needed. Conduct substance abuse treatment with clients in need according to the 12 core functions of substance abuse counseling as defined by the ICRC.

Responsibilities:

Meets with staff individually at least bi-weekly to supervise staff regarding all clinical and administrative aspects of ES operations.

Conducts monthly staff meetings.

Completes performance evaluations according to GHI policy.

Implements corrective action with the assistance of the ES program manager and the GHI HR department.

Trains and advises staff on job elements such as GHI and ES specific policies admission criteria for GHI and other community agency services referral procedures DLAS and provides orientation.

Attends IHH/ACT weekly referral meetings.

Reviews cases for the appropriate level of care.

Reviews staff dispositions to ensure that the proper level of care is recommended.

Responds to cases where a consumer family member or other provider is requesting a level care that is not being recommended by the ES clinician and/or physician.

Attends difficult case conferences.

Responds to written correspondence from those seeking services.

Provides direct services in the event staffing issues prevent or delay the timely provision of those services.

Provides face-to-face client contact in the event a second opinion or a team approach is warranted.

Conducts evaluations on potential consumers who are incarcerated or long-term residents of a state facility.

Functions as a resource for clients ER and Gateway staff about behavioral health care issues and resources through consultation and educational activities.

Provides consultation and education in the community in a group forum as needed

Serves as administrative back-up to on-call staff. Also serves as after-hours supervisor or team member at other Gateway facilities.

Rotates the role of administrator on-call on a weekly basis with other qualified ES staff.

Responds to all requests for consultation by the staff on-call and the answering service.

Consults with individuals directly in the event there is a request to speak with an administrator in addition to or in the absence of the after-hours supervisor. This includes consumers family members police physicians etc.

Takes full responsibility in handling requests for services from the GHI Community Disaster Team. This includes assessing the need for a team response calling team members to organize and activate a response and notifying management according to Disaster Team Response Policy.

Provides an orientation to newly hired employees of the Gateway Healthcare affiliate.

Represents the ES department at meetings when assigned.

Covers for another clinician during their absence.

Participates on Gateway committees as assigned.

Participates in record reviews as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Other information:

EDUCATION:

Masters degree (MA) MSW M.Ed. LMHC LCSW or LICSW preferred. Must be eligible for Qualified Mental Health Professional status. Must meet and maintain criteria for Child-Family Competence

EXPERIENCE:

Valid drivers license.

BLS certification.

Effectively present information and respond to questions from professionals managers clients family and the general public.

Read analyze and interpret professional journals policy and procedures and governmental regulations.

Write reports and general correspondence.

Analyze client and system information identify problems establish facts draw valid conclusions develop options and strategies for resolving problems monitor implementation and evaluate the problem-solving process for effectiveness.

Deal with several abstract and concrete variables concurrently.

Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications

Oral and written communication skills including speech grammar spelling and legibility are at sufficient level to ensure effective and appropriate communication.

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all unites of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals either manually or by use of a calculator.
