Job Description

Assembler

The Cable Operator assembles, installs, and packages server racks and related components in a high-security production environment. This role focuses on integrating computer parts into chassis, routing and labeling cables to precise rack specifications, and following detailed assembly instructions to ensure high-quality, reliable server builds. Starting at $23/hr based on shift can pay $24.50 on swing.

Responsibilities

  • Open and unpack chassis and components used for server assembly.
  • Use small hand tools to install or replace brackets, labels, and other parts.
  • Integrate computer parts into a chassis on a progressive assembly line.
  • Install small screws and parts into chassis and racks with accuracy and care.
  • Handle switches, affix them securely, and apply appropriate labels.
  • Install rails according to elevation and rack specification requirements.
  • Cable racks and server components following detailed wiring and harness standards.
  • Identify, route, and label cables to match rack specifications and documentation.
  • Package completed server racks for shipment or further processing.
  • Assist with recycling and proper disposal of materials as needed.
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures for product assembly operations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support production and assembly goals.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with wiring or cabling tasks, including cable harness and wire harness work (at least 6 months or more).
  • Proficiency using small hand tools for assembly, installation, and mechanical work.
  • Background in production, mechanical assembly, electronic assembly, or electromechanical assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate installation, cabling, and labeling.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods during production shifts.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively on ladders when required.
  • Good manual dexterity for handling small parts, screws, and components.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and follow verbal and written directions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a high-security or controlled production environment.
  • Familiarity with labeling standards and practices for cables, components, and racks.
  • Comfort working in areas that may be noisy and require focus despite distractions.
  • Understanding of basic electrical or electronic component handling.
  • Reliability and willingness to perform a variety of tasks to support the assembly line.
  • Interest in long-term, career-oriented opportunities in production and assembly.

Work Environment

The role is based in a high-security ESD (electrostatic discharge) environment designed to protect sensitive electronic components. Some areas can be noisy, reflecting an active production floor. Personal electronics are not allowed in the work area to maintain security and protect equipment. Work is hands-on and physical, involving standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally working on ladders. You will use small hand tools and work around server racks, cables, and electronic assemblies in a structured, process-driven setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
