As a subject matter expert, you will be an integral part of the team, supporting existing databases and building new dashboards, working on large-scale data science projects that leverage data transformation and machine learning models. You will collaborate cross-functionally across several teams in the Downstream Refined Products commercial business and will be focused on supporting commercial decisions via data-driven analytical insights. What you’ll do: Build, manage, and analyze automated data scrapes that support data collection, integration and visualization, dashboards, predictive analytics, linear regressions, and data mining.

Support the development of first-class tools and insights for leadership by balancing the complexity of data, coding/visualization platforms, and client demands.

Support the automation and streamlining of projects to increase efficiencies and scalability.

Ideate alternative procedures and processing to discover data relationships that drive new insights.

Leverage data science tools and techniques in analyzing large datasets that will enable the development of custom models and algorithms to uncover insights, trends, and patterns in the data, which will be useful in availing informed courses of action.

Responsible for the evaluation of analytics and machine learning technologies for use in the business and communicates findings to key stakeholders through reports and presentations.

Review, verify, and validate the software code developed by using troubleshooting techniques and perform thorough and insightful code reviews to help maintain a high standard of quality control.

Collaborate and support the trading desk, pricing group, and market analysts on the team to develop risk and reward analysis regarding optimization opportunities.

Work as part of a geographically dispersed team, effectively communicating prioritized business needs and prioritized project statuses.

Who you are: Must be legally eligible to work in the USA.

3+ years of relevant work experience (in lieu of work experience will consider internships and cooperative education experience)

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Advanced SQL expertise, proficiency in R and/or Python

Degree in a numeric field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics)

Advanced SQL expertise, proficiency in R and/or Python

Understanding of statistical methods

Experience with dashboarding/visualization (Spotfire, or similar)

Strong database design and analytical skills

Strong data management workflow skills, including Git version control and collaboration, and R package management.

Hands-on experience in machine learning (supervised, unsupervised and ensemble methods).

Excellent interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to communicate complex data science solutions, and project conclusions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong analytical skills and commercial mindset with the ability to troubleshoot problems efficiently, effectively, and in a timely manner.

Strong organization and attention to detail skills.
