Free People Movement Temporary Design Assistant

Role Summary

Free People Movement is seeking a Temporary Design Assistant (3-6 Months) to support our Performance Outwear and Snow team! This role works in support of the Designer with seasonal development calendar by executing original design ideas and business goals. FP Movement. A destination for life well-lived.

Role Responsibilities

* Manage building and updating packs for key milestone meetings.

* Sample management, photographing samples and details for design team.

* Maintain an active role in the weekly Design Flow Meetings. Take notes and manage follow up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with Designer.

* Support seasonal development calendar in partnership with designer/buyers/technical designers/production.

* Execute specific design development projects as assigned by Designer and manage development and execution of trim and artwork packages.

* Set up spec sheets for all private label product & assist Design Lead with market developments & follow-up communication as needed.

* Partner with PD on the status of styles in development daily to ensure product execution meets design specifications and are on track in style development process.

* Assist in completing technical sketches for domestic and overseas programs, set up spec sheets for all private label product & assist Designer with market developments as well as follow-up communication as needed.

* Prepare development packages and participate in follow up communication related to each package.

* Review incoming garments with Designer and PD partners to ensure they are correct and in line with original intent as well as brand standards.

* Assist in sample & rack preparation for monthly sales review meetings by collaborating with Designer on innovative presentations that effectively communicate line to Buyers and Brand leaders.

* Perform special tasks as needed.

Role Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design and some industry experience is preferred.

* Ability to be ON SITE at our offices in Philadelphia, PA 4-5 Days per week.

* Design tools: Procreate, Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, Wacom tablet)

* Sewing, draping, mocking experience

* Excellent communication skills to communicate ideas and inspirations to others and to interact with Designers, Buyers and other Cross Functional partners.

* Strong organizational skills and ability to intuitively respond and reprioritize as needs shift during the development process.

* Entry level technical knowledge of apparel construction.

* Entry level knowledge of fabric treatments as well as wash and dye techniques

* Ability to hand sketch and communicate design ideas via computer program.
