Director, Marketing and Communications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing, the Director of Marketing and Communications is a member of the University communications team. The Director should be able to work independently and collaboratively to create branded digital and print materials that support the University’s enrollment and advancement goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following are primary duties:

Work collaboratively with enrollment management team, advancement team and faculty to generate ideas for marketing and communications strategies.

Supervise two fulltime staff members, contractors and student employees.

Develop and monitor project schedule for department, including but not limited to website spotlights, website updates, advertising, marketing materials, email campaigns, University publications and daily blog posts.

Work with contractors and consultants on execution of marketing initiatives.

Ensure consistency with university’s visual brand voice.

Create and enforce the University’s Brand Guide and communications related policies.

Regularly write, design, and edit high quality communication materials delivered to varied audiences through a variety of means.

Design and deliver monthly e-newsletters to University constituents.

Edit, review and produce University student publications to include catalog, student handbook and bi-annual university magazine.

Represent the department at university meetings included, but not limited to, University Roundtable and Marketing and Enrollment Committee.

Represent the University at MICUA Communications Officers and WiCyS CI meetings.

Research and propose advertising opportunities to supplement contractor and consultant plans.

Identify areas for efficiencies, improvements, and budget saving areas.

Stay current on design trends to keep the university’s brand relevant.

Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum three years’ experience in marketing or communications, preferably in an academic environment

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

Project management experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital communications or similar field required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

There are limited physical demands; however, this position requires sitting occasionally for extended periods of time, and repetitive motions for tasks such as operating a computer mouse and keyboard, and hearing and speaking on the telephone. The candidate must be able to pull, bend, grasp, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. with or without accommodation.
