Summary
We are seeking a Research Associate in Analytical Chemistry, with experience in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of fermentation-derived small molecules. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in quantitative analysis in an industrial setting, preferably with Agilent LC's. The candidate will be responsible for the routine analysis of the products of our fermentation and cell-free production platforms.
Essential Functions
* Responsible for the day-to-day execution of HPLC based analysis of small molecules from fermentation broths and cell-free enzyme catalysis* Maintain HPLC equipment and prepare standards and mobile phases* Utilize benchling LIMS to receive samples and to disseminate results* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Research & Development and Process and Commercialization* Maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures, results, and observations
Education and Experience
* BSc with 0-2 years' experience in analytical chemistry in an industrial or academic setting. There is a preference for candidates with industrial experience in a synthetic biology setting* Technical and analytical proficiency with hands on knowledge of analytical methods such as HPLC, LC-MS-MS, GCMS, HPLC-RID, UV, and FTIR* Understanding of laboratory analytical techniques, analytical troubleshooting, and lab equipment* Experience in analyzing products produced via microbial fermentation and enzyme-based processes preferred* Must collaborate in a cross-functional teams with excellent written and verbal communication skills* High attention to detail* Possess an internal drive for high quality, reproducible results with a can-do mentality* Capable of managing multiple projects and tasks at once

Laboratory operations require dexterity and care to perform studies as required.* Occasional: walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending and twisting of neck, bending and twisting of waist, squatting, simple grasping, reaching above and below shoulder level, and occasional lifting and carrying of files or material weighing up to 50 pounds.* Must be willing to work with biohazardous agents (up to BSL2) and chemicals.* The R&D laboratory will result in exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, fumes, limited dust, and oily coolants.* The performance of this position will present exposure to an industrial environment and requires support and compliance with the published Company PPE policy including but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, appropriate attire, safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, etc.
