Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
In addition to the base salary, performance based bonus is offered for this role. This will be discussed during the interview process.
Description
This role is primarily remote except for required court appearances.

We have an exciting opportunity for a remote (with occasional travel to venues within the state of Georgia) Workers' Compensation Attorney. You will be handling a caseload of workers' compensation matters, conduct depositions, and represent Liberty Mutual and its policyholders at depositions, mediations and WC hearings in the state of Georgia. You will also interact with Liberty Mutual's Workers' Compensation claims organization.

Responsibilities:
Use Litigation Protocols to develop and revise appropriate legal strategy for discovery, investigation, handling and trial/hearing of cases or matters.
Appearances before State Board of Workers' Compensation for hearings and appellate arguments
Prepare hearing and appellate briefs
Conducting depositions
Drafting and filing motions, appeals and objections/responses
Preparing updates and summaries and posting those in our Claims partner system.
Arguing appeals at the State Board Appellate Division and before Superior Court judges.
Research the law applicable to cases or matters.
Evaluate claims for settlement and negotiate to successful conclusion.
Advise, communicate and confer with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients, rendering clear, unambiguous legal opinions and advice.
Personally meet with and maintain good relations and communications with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients as required.
Remain current with developments in the law; understand medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering or similar issues and defenses involved with cases or matters.
Prepare and conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims or other departments as required.
Understand and creatively use technology; apply technology to the process of law to improve quality and reduce cost.
Interface with Home Office Legal department.
Qualifications
What you've got:
A JD degre
Membership in the Georgia Bar
Familiarity with insurance and workers compensation law a plus
Appropriate special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts preferred
A minimum of three years of successful experience conducting discovery, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, hearings and trials.
Experience representing insurance companies
