We are looking for a reliable Construction Inspector in Transportation to join our team!
Job Description
As a Construction Inspector, you will execute onsite construction inspections to ensure the public transit system is being constructed in compliance with the contract requirements and applicable permits.
You will be inspecting various facets of work at our client Jobsite and performing continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities, to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications, as well as ensuring construction compliance to all safety and quality procedures.
The selected candidate will be performing field inspections during the evening and weekends after hours
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain records that document the project by preparing daily reports and computations.
Inspect various aspects of the work, including but not limited to the railroad track, switch installation and trackbed work, concrete installation, drainage installation, bridge and retaining wall work.
Ensure the safety and quality of the project.
Ensure use of approved materials, methods, designs, working drawings and shop drawings
Prepare daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract.
Verify that only approved materials are incorporated into the work.
Coordinate work of sub-consultants for surveying and material testing.
Supervise day-to-day construction work and preparing and implementing directives for corrective action.
Review and implement contract documents and designs.
Review the modifications and change orders for approvals and implementations.
Check the location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
Review contractor’s traffic control plans and field traffic control; review project safety.
Inspect and reports on a variety of construction projects.
Maintain material and inspection records.
Other duties as assigned.
