THE POSITION:
At STACK, the Tax Senior Analyst is an essential part of the Tax Team. You will play an integral role in the income tax and indirect tax function for our multiple REITs in North America (including Canada).
To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communications skills, strong attention to detail, be exceptionally organized, self-motivated, and a master problem-solver. You should be able to thrive in a fast-paced multitasking environment and easily adapt to change and rapid company growth. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for tax and customer service (external and internal).
Key job responsibilities will include:
* Assist in management of external tax service providers (KPMG US and KPMG Canada, Grant Thornton LLP and law firms), including reviewing federal and state/local income tax return filings in the US, and income tax return filings and GST/HST return filings in Canada.* Assist in requesting and reviewing extension and estimated income tax calculations prepared by KPMG, submission of payment vouchers and follow through internal payment process, and preparation of push-down entries of the payments to operation sites.* Work with AP, Treasury, and Finance to forecast income tax payments ensuring sufficient funding and timely payment.* Respond to information requests from external service providers in connection with monthly GST/HST return filings, quarterly REIT testing, annual income tax return filings and annual tax provision calculation.* Assist in internal monitoring and maintenance of REIT status by running REIT testing (assets and income) on a monthly basis.* Review monthly income tax entries and account reconciliations ensuring accuracy and timeliness, researching discrepancies as needed.* Assist with researching and identifying sales tax incentives in existing and prospective markets and prepare annual compliance filings with various jurisdictions where STACK has secured sales tax incentives (currently IL, AZ, VA).* Assist with responding to income and indirect tax notices.* Maintain income and indirect tax calendar.* Tax scenario modeling and other special projects, as needed.
THE DETAILS:
* Location: Denver, CO - In office* Travel: less than 10%* Compensation: $90,000 - $115,000 + bonus* Must be eligible to work in the United States* Must pass comprehensive background screening
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
* BS in accounting required, Tax Program participation preferred* 3-5+ years prior work experience in income tax-related field* Technical knowledge of US income tax law, ancillary tax experience a plus (e.g. sales/use)* Experience with commercial real estate, data centers, and REITs preferred* CPA preferred* NetSuite experience a plus* Power BI or Alteryx experience a plus* Proficient with Microsoft Office product suite, especially Excel* Detail-oriented* Strong analytical, problem solving, and communications skills* Enjoys collaborating and works well cross-functionally with other teams* Ability to execute, process, and prioritize tasks with minimal-to-no supervision* Proven success in creating efficiencies in processes and procedures
