Special Education Attorney

A law firm seeks a Special Education Attorney to join their team in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating the complexities of special education law, advocating for clients during Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, handling discipline law matters, and managing due process complaints. Strong research, writing, organizational, and communication skills are essential for success in this role. Duties: Represent clients in IEP meetings, advocating for appropriate educational services and accommodations.
Handle discipline law matters related to special education students.
Manage due process complaints and related legal proceedings.
Conduct legal research on special education laws, regulations, and case precedents.
Draft legal documents, including complaints, briefs, and motions.
Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the State Bar of California.
Experience practicing special education law, including attending IEP meetings and handling due process complaints.
Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to special education, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Excellent research, writing, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and independently when necessary.
Proven ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and follow through on projects.
Education and Certifications: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the State Bar of California.
Skills: Proficiency in legal research and writing.
Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
