We’re looking for a Director Operations to join our team!
The Director of Operations plays a pivotal role in leading the day-to-day operations of the East region while collaborating closely with the VP of Operations to shape and execute the organization's overarching strategy. With a primary focus on efficiency, productivity, and goal attainment, this position provides strategic oversight across multiple distribution centers. The ideal candidate must embody a hands-on approach, prioritizing growth and financial objectives, fostering teamwork, driving results, and maintaining a high level of accountability. Proficiency in business acumen, financial management, and continuous improvement practices are essential attributes for success in this role.
In this exciting role, you will:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration: Work closely with the VP of Operations to formulate and execute strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence and align with the organization's overall vision and goals.
Comprehensive Operational Oversight: Provide hands-on leadership and direction across all facets of operations within the East region, including but not limited to supply chain management, logistics, inventory control, and quality assurance.
Performance Optimization: Work with Operations leadership team to develop and deploy a common language approach of leading to lagging Business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with associated financial impacts linking to increased profitability, growth, and improved customer experience. Continuously assess operational performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing data-driven strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize productivity across distribution centers.
Financial Management and Optimization: Develop and manage operational budgets, forecasting expenditures, and revenue projections to ensure financial targets are met or exceeded. Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement while maintaining a focus on profitability.
Team Development and Empowerment: Cultivate a high-performing and cohesive team environment, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to operations staff. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning to drive individual and team success.
Strategic Decision-Making: Utilize a combination of analytical insights, industry knowledge, and market trends to inform strategic decision-making processes. Identify emerging opportunities and risks, proactively adjust operational strategies to capitalize on market dynamics, and mitigate potential threats.
Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management: Establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, and cross-functional teams. Build and nurture relationships with external partners, suppliers, and vendors to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with organizational objectives.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Implement robust quality assurance processes and compliance protocols to uphold product/service quality standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence to industry best practices, safety standards, and ethical guidelines across all operational activities.
Change Management and Continuous Improvement: Lead change management initiatives to drive operational transformation and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Encourage innovation, creativity, and experimentation to identify and implement process enhancements that drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential operational risks and develop risk mitigation strategies. Proactively monitor external factors and market trends that may impact operations, taking preemptive measures to mitigate potential disruptions and ensure business continuity.

a. Demonstrate a history of evaluating organizational productivity and implementing optimal best practices and policies company wide.
b. Proficiently integrate disparate operations into a cohesive, efficiently managed business, collaborating closely with executive leadership to enhance operational and financial performance.
Detail-Oriented and Strategic Thinking:
a. Exhibit meticulous attention to detail while grasping the operational intricacies of the business, including product dynamics, market nuances, and optimal staffing levels.
b. Possess robust B2B experience in retail and/or distribution services, emphasizing the importance of personal relationships and reliability in service delivery.
c. Competently develop and execute strategic plans, effectively translating overarching goals into tactical actions, with a strong acumen in project management and financial understanding.
Leadership and Communication:
a. Provide inspiring leadership, fostering a positive environment that empowers team members and instills confidence among stakeholders.
b. Showcase exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and consulting skills, adeptly collaborating with senior leaders to deliver programs exceeding expectations and maintaining a customer-centric, proactive approach.

Sense of Urgency and Adaptability:

b. Willingly travel to various operational sites as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving operational demands.
Your education & experience should be similar to:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations Management, or related discipline preferred (will consider equivalent combination of education and work experience).
15+ years of progressive experience in operations management, with a proven track record of success in a leadership capacity over multiple distribution centers.
Strong working knowledge of TPM, Lean, Six Sigma methodologies with experience leading deployment of preferred.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and P&L statements.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools for operations management and analysis.
Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AS400 experience a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Warehouse environment with variable weather conditions, exposure to noise and vibrations from forklifts/other equipment, will work near moving mechanical parts, such as lifts.
Travel Required, 50% -75%.
The required physical abilities to perform this job :
Primarily sitting, with some walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching.
Occasional reaching and carrying with hands and arms, ability to lift and carry 60 pounds.
Able to hear and speak into telephone, close visual work on a computer terminal, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard, mouse, other technical instruments and warehouse equipment.
