Job Summary
The Data Architect is responsible for delivering that Data Strategy and full Data Management lifecycle solutions that enable business teams, IT teams, and external partners. Enables operational excellence through the establishment and execution of Data Management and Data Governance principles. Drives continuous improvement in solution performance, reliability, compliance and efficiency. Strategically develops and executes roadmaps that align to business strategy and measurably drives business growth through business KPIs. Key Accountabilities • Actively participate in the design and evolution of the enterprise Data Strategy. • Drive the delivery of the Data Strategy and Data Architecture solutions across the Vistra eco system incorporating multiple business units and locations, third party contractors and Managed service providers, i.e. enterprise re-usable data solutions. • Provide technical expertise in the architecture, design, implementation and maintenance of data assets that support business operations and analytics. • Data risk management to avoid data loss, manage access to data in a responsible way, and ensure that data quality is trustworthy and fit for purpose, i.e. accountable for the integrity of data, data designs, data security architecture and associated controls. Education, Experience & Skill Requirements • 10+ years minimum of progressive experience in data discipline and implementing complex data architecture solutions to meet operational and analytical requirements. • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Modeling, etc. • Expertise in designing solutions for structured and unstructured data. • Expertise designing scalable data architecture to support both batch and real-time data products and platforms using best-in-class data technologies such as relational databases, data integration, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, cloud data warehouse, etc.) for a continuously changing digital landscape. • Expertise designing and implementing security and access controls to include masking and encryptions, object tagging, role-based access with row and column level security. • Expertise in developing and managing metadata. • Expertise creating Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Models that integrate with existing or proposed database structures. • Experience with Data Quality approaches and tools including the ability to perform data profiling. • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) concept, tools and practices. • Experience in writing advanced queries, performance tuning, partitioning, materialized views, etc. Key Metrics • Operational Excellence: Streamline and Simplification of solution portfolio. • Continuous Improvement: Increased cost efficiency in solution delivery. Expertise developing and maintaining data catalog tools and technologies, such as metadata management systems, data cataloging platforms, and data lineage tools.
Experience working with data owners and stakeholders to capture and document data quality metrics to ensure consistency and accuracy of information.
Experience working in a Data Governance and Protection program; how to capture and remediate data protection defects associated with various data classifications, such as SPI, is required.
