Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is a high-growth renewable energy company that owns and operates a portfolio of 31 wind, solar and energy storage facilities across the United States, totaling approximately 3 gigawatts of generating capacity. We are actively developing new wind, solar, and energy storage projects in energy markets across the U.S., with about 30 GW of projects under development spanning over 125 projects. Job Summary:
The Development Manager - Real Estate provides support for a growing organization in a fast-paced environment. The role will focus on real estate title curative work and support project developers with complex real estate issues. This role will also review real estate due diligence, identify risks and impacts of findings, and identify scope of real estate work on each project. The Development Manager - Real Estate will collaborate with developers in the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with key project stakeholders and communities.
Essential Functions:
Expertise in navigating Mineral Ownership Reports and waivers as needed for title policies
Identify real estate issues affecting our solar, BESS, or wind projects
Facilitate requests for proposals for external consultants
Manage external consultants as it relates to site control, real estate efforts, title requests, and Phase I Environmental Assessment Reports
Work collaboratively with legal counsel and title companies on title due diligence
Effectively review ALTA surveys and ensure all standards required are met
Review title commitments and identify title curative items
Lead efforts to cure real estate matters to ensure our projects meet financing requirements
Negotiate crossing consents and other real estate agreements as required
Support project financing efforts
Ability to multi-task and be an effective team member as deadlines and priorities shift.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum 3 to 7 years of previous experience in real estate for energy project development required - preferably in solar, wind, or natural gas electricity generation projects
Experience with Mineral Ownership Reports
Experience with real estate matters related to the Bureau of Land Management
Experience coordinating external consultants
Great project management skills with a highly organized approach
Experience reviewing and analyzing real estate studies and reports
Experience negotiating real estate and commercial agreements
Experience providing title curative work
Understanding of key drivers critical of real estate for energy projects
Ability to deal with local community dynamics, negotiate with utilities, as well as negotiate effectively with landowners and other stakeholders
Exposure to renewable energy issues and economics
Physical Demands: Position will require sitting for long periods of time.
Occasionally lift 20-pound or more
Willingness and ability to travel at least 20% of time
