Job Description:
Under limited supervision, the Application Support Engineer oversees the installation and maintenance of software applications to streamline business operations. Duties include optimizing software application performance, installing updates and performing debugging procedures.
The Application Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining assigned applications and ensuring that they remain fully operational and well-integrated into the Company’s information technology environment. This includes monitoring issues that arise on a daily basis, designing and executing change requests from users and performing system testing during code upgrades/projects. This position also works closely with the Application Development team to troubleshoot application problems. Application knowledge is strongly preferred but not required. In addition, this role provides analytical expertise to information-systems end users with the overall objective of improving the use of application functionality, i.e., enhance workflow, optimize business processes, and identify appropriate systems solutions.
A successful candidate will be comfortable working independently with a sense of urgency to solve problems quickly and thoroughly and have a strong desire to acquire additional knowledge and skills. Prioritization and follow-up are very important in this fast-paced, ever-changing, collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities: Diagnose and resolve system, application, and data issues.
Create scripts and stored procedures to resolve incidents in the production environment.
Create and support ad-hoc data and report requests.
Complete client and product implementations including white-label set-ups, lender and loan type profiles and component profile setups.
Coordinate service activities with other teams and technical resources.
Identify and find solutions to address situations requiring urgent attention.
Troubleshoot performance issues.
Anticipate & introduce new tools to monitor & troubleshoot applications.
Contributes to analysis relating to application build and functionality of systems to ensure reliability for current and/or future use.
Work with Business System Analysts and Software Developers to design and develop software applications.
Analyze recurring and intermittent problems.
Provides technology mentoring and guidance to more junior employees.
Responds thoroughly and promptly to customer needs and meets Service Level Agreements as defined in conjunction with our customers. Manages customer relationships and follows issues through to closure.
Basic Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of front end and back end programing languages, such as ASP.NET, C#, MS SLQ Server, MS Reporting Services and SVN. Knowledge of Javascript, Python, or Ruby is a plus.
Undergraduate degree in technical field or at least 4 years of relevant experience
Ability to communicate and interact effectively on technical subject matter with non-specialists.
Experienced in documenting system designs/configurations
Good oral and written communication skills for any audience
