Position Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager of Business Development with experience in the defense sector, particularly within the UAS and ISR domains. If you have a background in the military, especially with the Army, Air Force, or Navy and have a proven track record in a business development role from industry, we would love to connect. You will lead specific campaigns and help to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Support executing campaign strategies to win multi-year DoD programs.

Directly support proposal writing and on-time submissions. Proposal drafts are provided to leadership with first time quality.

Lead assigned program pursuits to achieve revenue targets.

Partner with customers to understand their capability gaps, translate needs into actionable features, and create compelling value propositions.

Expand the opportunity pipeline through the identification and qualification of new business opportunities.

Provide recommendations to optimize BD and capture resources amongst competing priorities.

Collaborate across the organization to deliver best-in-class solutions to customers.

Utilize market intelligence and competitor data to position the division for success.

Conduct customer visits and articulate current and emerging needs and requirements.

Lead capture activities, including opportunity gate reviews, proposal reviews, and business-case development.

Support the development and submission of proposals, white papers and RFI responses.

Conduct after-action reviews to document lessons learned and identify necessary adjustments.

Assist in developing marketing and B&P budgets and execute BD plans within approved budgets.

Represent WingXpand at tradeshows and execute customer call plans post-tradeshows.

Qualifications:

Advanced degree in related field.

7+ years of experience in the U.S. defense industry and 1+ years of direct business development industry experience

Experience as a Business Development Manager and/or Capture Manager supporting DoD customers.

Direct experience with UAS program requirements and software acquisitions

Ability to work and gain credibility with executive leadership, senior military, and civilian leaders.

Ability to lead or support diverse teams of experts to accomplish demanding tasks in limited timeframes.

Passionate about thriving in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Existing relationships with key individuals in the US Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Knowledge of the development of tactics and employment of weapon systems.

Detailed knowledge of US military acquisition process, requirements development, and budgetary process.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to empower and engage people and instill drive and passion into the organization.

Additional qualifications:

Support a culture of innovation and business development excellence.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

Experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), Microsoft SharePoint, CRM, and other project management tools.

Ability to travel based on customer and program priorities.
