We connect state and local officials, law enforcement leaders, and pro-democracy partners across America with the tools and expertise they need to safeguard democracy. We are guided by a bipartisan Advisory Board of former state and federal officials, issue experts, and law enforcement leaders from both major political parties who are committed to protecting the will of the people and the rule of law.

Job Overview:

The

Investigator

will assist the Lead Investigator with collecting, analyzing and synthesizing information from a variety of sources to assess tactics and actors that threaten elections and undermine our democracy. The Investigator should be able to synthesize and prioritize the most relevant information into reports and present their findings internally and to clients and partners.

Responsibilities:

Review publicly accessible information from diverse online and offline sources, including social media, news outlets, public forums, podcasts, webinars, and conferences.

Review publicly available business and tax filings, FEC disclosures, and other regulatory filings.

Monitor public meetings in key states.

Stay informed about emerging election threats and proactively generate and follow leads about actors and tactics of interest.

Adapt investigative strategies and methodologies to address evolving threats.

Distill and compile findings into written reports and presentations, summarizing key insights and actionable recommendations, with input and feedback from the Lead Investigator and members of the legal team.

Collaborate with the Lead Investigator and other team members to share information across the organization, exchange insights, and coordinate investigative efforts.

Clearly and concisely present investigative findings internally and to clients and partners.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably with coursework reflecting interest in political science, public policy, criminal justice, complex research or a related field.

1-2 years of related work experience.

Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret, synthesize and present complex information from diverse sources.

Strong project management skills, including ability to prioritize tasks and follow up with others as needed.

Strong research and oral communication skills.

Strong written communication skills, reflecting attention to detail, concision, clarity and ability to produce high-quality written work products.

Ability to explain complex topics in an easy-to-understand manner.

Team player who can partner and collaborate with attorneys, other team members, and external partners.

Strong judgment and critical thinking skills.

Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.

A positive attitude, concern for people and community, presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.

Occasional travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in data analysis or investigative research.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary for this position will be $63,000+ commensurate to experience.
