PROGRAM: Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) - Philadelphia

ROLE TYPE: Fee-for-Service

JOB OVERVIEW:

Clinicians working in CVCA’s IBHS program may perform the functions of both a Mobile Therapist (MT) and Behavior Consultant (BC).

As a Mobile Therapist: Provide child-centered, family-focused assessment and psychotherapy in home, school, and community settings. Serve as the lead clinician and take a leadership role, in conjunction with the youth and family, to develop and implement the youth’s treatment plan. Address defined problems as specified in the treatment plan. Utilize evidence-based and strength-based approaches to treatment.

As a Behavior Consultant: Design and direct the implementation of an individualized behavior plan that meets the youth’s mental health needs in accordance with their treatment plan. Provide instruction to other treatment team members regarding roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the behavior plan.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a graduate degree from an accredited college or university

Behavior Consultants must meet ONE of the following per state regulations:

Graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, or counseling AND 1+ years of full-time experience providing mental health direct services to children, youth, or young adults

Graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, counseling, or a related field AND completion of a clinical or mental health direct service practicum

Graduate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Licensure in Pennsylvania as a behavior specialist (LBS)

Certification as a BCBA or other graduate-level certification in behavior analysis that is accredited by NCCA or ANSI

Mobile Therapists must meet ONE of the following per state regulations:

Graduate degree with 9+ credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work, or counseling AND 1+ years of full-time experience providing mental health direct services to children, youth, or young adults

Graduate degree with 9+ credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work, education, counseling, or a related field AND completion of a clinical or mental health direct service practicum

Licensure in Pennsylvania as a social worker (LSW) or behavior specialist (LBS) AND a graduate degree that required a clinical or mental health direct service practicum

Licensure in Pennsylvania as a psychologist, professional counselor (LPC), marriage and family therapist (LMFT), or clinical social worker (LCSW)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Strong organizational skills

Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to all parties

Computer proficiency with the ability to create reports, presentations, program literature, and basic spreadsheets

Thorough knowledge of clinical guidelines, service expectations, and authorization requirements

Ability to demonstrate good judgment

Ability to handle multiple assignments and manage work-related stress

Ability to relate well to other individuals

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Major highlights of the position requirements are noted below. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.

Mobile Therapy functions:

Complete IBHS Assessments in the 15-day timeframe.

Complete structured tools as appropriate.

Develop the youth’s Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) in partnership with the youth and family.

Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with the family.

Provide individual psychotherapy in the home, school, recreation center, and/or other community setting in accordance with the youth’s treatment plan.

Implement components of behavior modification developed in conjunction with the treatment team, as appropriate.

Provide skill teaching as outlined in the youth’s treatment plan.

Provide crisis intervention services as needed.

Behavior Consultation functions:

Assess the need for an individualized behavior plan as recommended in the youth’s Individual Treatment Plan (ITP).

Observe youth at home, in school, and in other settings where problem behaviors occur and discuss with other treatment team members.

Develop individualized behavior plans that include youth- and family-centered behavior goals, specific intervention techniques, responsible team members, and specific timelines.

Supervise the implementation of the behavior plan.

Serve as a member of the youth’s treatment team.

Meet with treatment team members regularly to monitor the implementation of the behavior plan.

Functions of all IBHS clinicians:

Maintain recordkeeping and documentation, including Progress Notes and Quarterly Progress Summaries on assigned cases, according to program policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria.

Attend school meetings as requested.

Maintain regular contact with all the members of the treatment team to provide and receive feedback on the youth’s progress.

Provide emergency assessment and intervention as assigned when critical situations arise requiring such interventions.

Participate in thirty minutes of direct observation of services being provided every 6 months.

Participate in one hour of individual face-to-face supervision per month that includes oversight of the following:

The interventions being implemented.

The child's, youth's, or young adult's progress toward the goals of the ITP

Consideration of adjustments needed to the ITP

The staff person's skill in implementing the interventions in the ITP

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

All new hires are required to attend mandated orientation and complete required trainings.

Comply with agency and funder annual training requirements, including at least 16 hours related to the individual’s specific job functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Home, school, and community settings

Local travel required between multiple sites

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Able to handle multiple assignments

Able to manage work-related stress

Demonstrates good judgment

Relates well to people

Possesses strong organizational and communication skills

Able to walk up and down stairs

Able to lift 20 pounds
