Job Summary
We are looking for a talented Community and Stakeholder Outreach Coordinator with a passion for planning and coordinating outreach and engagement processes and activities related to construction programs. This role will work closely with community and program stakeholders to ensure proper coordination of communications, interactions and engagement. This role will conduct outreach activities with community-based organizations and all program stakeholders, and track progress. This position will involve field work, with in-person support at community events, and outreach response activities with occasional work after hours and on weekends to support Program activities.
Responsibilities
Identify and conduct outreach and engagement with program partners.
Collect input from partners and liaise with stakeholders to ensure the information needs of the whole community are met.
Develop/maintain partnerships with community-based partners and organizations, service provider agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective two-way communication with a variety of audiences based on stakeholder information needs, concerns, and questions.
Develop operational procedures related to engagement activities.
Maintain contact and email campaign subscriber lists to track engagement activities.
Contribute to regular reporting and analysis on the quality and equity of Program outreach initiatives.
Coordinate with the program team to provide feedback on messaging and to disseminate materials and messaging throughout the community.
Identify effective channels of communication for reaching target audiences.
Support the program team's other outreach and engagement initiatives such as canvassing, community meetings, trainings and events.
Maintain records for community engagements and stakeholder interactions.
Create, draft, and post, as approved, social media and other marketing content.
Collaborate with program team to stay informed of community information needs, trends, and resources, and use this information to customize presentations to targeted audiences.
Represent the program(s) at strategic outreach events.
Work with program team on local messaging for local and small business community.
Meet regularly with program team on project schedule.
Represent program team at community outreach events and man vendor outreach table.
Become knowledgeable about the program(s) and the required vendor qualifications necessary to be considered for contracting opportunities as it relates to construction projects.
Identify and solicit local, diverse firms that have the necessary qualifications to contract with the program and its various contractors.
Coordinate the identification of local, diverse companies that meet qualifications but are not yet certified and coordinate with program team to provide guidance on the certification process.
Experience
Relationship Building skills: including new lead research, preparing, and conducting presentations and development of strategies to understand stakeholder objectives and communicate the program(s) to diverse audiences in the community.
Project Management skills: including prioritizing, goal setting, and projecting outcome through event management, communications and marketing, and community activity levels. Goal and results oriented are a must. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and deliver high quality, accurate results while operating in a diverse environments.
Technical Skills: including using Microsoft Office, social media, and video conferencing software/platforms.
Communication skills: including the ability to engage and speak to a diverse audience. Strong interpersonal skills including public speaking and writing as well as some experience in creating content for social media.
Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of standard office hours, including weekends as needed.
Must be able to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in social media management platforms and tools.
Strong media relations experience, including pitching stories and building relationships with journalists.
Knowledge of marketing principles and ability to apply them in communication strategies.
Comfortable with public speaking engagements and presenting information to diverse audiences.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with some experience in human services or 4+ years related professional experience
Experience working with diverse communities in outreach and stakeholder engagement.
Preferred experience of 3-5 years within community and stakeholder outreach activities or an equivalent combination of experience.
Experience with construction projects and suppliers a plus.
Strong experience preparing reports.
Proven experience in project management.
Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
