Project Engineering Manager
The role involves ensuring the successful execution of BESS projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with structural, electrical, geotechnical, environmental, and civil Professional Engineers during design process, including late-stage design from 90% to IFC process, to assure the design meets technical and code requirements. Manage professional engineer review process to obtain engineering deliverables.
Provide engineering/technical input and direction to site evaluation and characterization, permitting, power purchase agreements, interconnect agreements, testing and commissioning, financial modeling, and other project development aspects.
Review specifications for purchases of materials or equipment. Manage and work closely with equipment vendors to identify technical challenges and create innovative solutions.
Provide on-going technical support to project construction team during construction of BESS, PV, and wind systems.
Perform electricity tariff analysis, electricity bill analysis, and load versus energy generation analysis.
Perform site visits and inspect BESS systems under construction to confirm they are being built according to the plans and in compliance with all codes, standards, and SSI specifications.
Review and respond to submittals and RFIs from subcontractors and EPC partners.
Participate in onsite quality inspections & punch-list generation to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with NEC, operational, and safety standards.
Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Key Qualifications
Extensive technical experiences on energy storage projects (ideally, 3-5 years)
Strong preference for technical experience with utility scale BESS in CAISO
Deep understanding of EE power systems, BESS protection studies, Electrical Drawings Review, and utility-scale BESS use cases
BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET Accredited institution, (i.e., BSEE, BSME, BSCE, BSChE) - Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Renewable Energy Engineering degrees are preferred.
Proficiency working with current AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel software versions, as well as MS Office suite.
Willingness to travel, at least 30% of the time
Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent)
Experience with BESS performance modeling tools (preferably PVSyst)
Knowledge of BESS plant design and optimization
Knowledge of the National Electric Code
Proficiency in project engineering and planning
Ability to analyze and solve complex problems
Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Ability to motivate and develop others
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Salary Range: 100,000-150,000
