Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the University Inclusive Learning (UIL) Program Coordinator, this position assists in the coordination of a post-secondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities to attend and be successful in higher education.

This is a grant funded position. Appointment and continuation are dependent on renewal of the grant(s), and access to funding.

Essential Functions

+ Supports Program Coordinator in providing leadership, direction, and oversight of the MAICEI and DRIVE programs, including long and short-range planning, policy development and allocation of resources.

+ Provides individualized supports for students and creates opportunities to be involved in college experience with their peers without disabilities.

+ Maintains and enhances programs that focus on academics, instruction, and social activities to promote independent living.

+ Gathers data and notes for and during community outreach and leadership meetings.

+ Assists with the program budget. Works with grants and contracts, maintains statistics and assessment of the program to ensure continued funding. In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, develops and implements internal fiscal procedures.

+ Assists in research, development, and designs procedures to enhance the day-to-day functions of the UIL programs.

+ Supports partnerships with external agencies to secure services for student participants.

+ Liaisons with disability services to ensure students are provided accommodations.

+ Assists with the development of a strategic action plan detailing how students will be supported while participating in inclusive college courses and campus activities.

+ Assists in collecting, verifying, interpreting medical/hospital records, mental health assessments, audiogram reports, ophthalmologist assessments, psychiatric assessment, psychotropic medication assessments, speech and language assessment, and other related documentation to develop and ensure reasonable and effective support, service, and assistance (accommodations).

+ Assists in preparing and maintaining recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Responsible for evaluating MAICEI and DRIVE programs and reports assessment to funders.

+ Maintains current knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations pertaining to the rights of persons with disabilities, discrimination, privacy information, interpreting and appropriate and reasonable accommodations in all areas.

Other Functions

+ Performs related duties as assigned or required. Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery and other compliance requirements.

+ Demonstrates capacity, skill, and willingness to engage students and contribute to student success.

+ Understands responsibilities with respect to conflicts of interest and behaves in ways consistent both with law and university policy.

+ Contributes toward creating a positive and respectful workplace. Uses access to sensitive and/or not yet public university related information only in the performance of the responsibilities of position and exercises care to prevent unnecessary disclosure to others.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

+ Two (2) years of experience in a related field including but not limited to disability advocacy, provision of accommodations for individuals with disabilities, program coordination or program management.

+ Knowledge of the needs, characteristics, and resulting social, informational, and educational repercussions of individuals with disabilities.

+ Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and administrative skills.

+ Demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts in pursuit of project goals and grant requirements.

+ Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

+ Knowledge and ability to apply the legal guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), section 504 of the rehabilitation act of 1973, and other relevant federal, state, local and institutional legislation.

+ Knowledge of higher education including accommodations and universal design.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

+ Typical office environment activity.

+ Will need to travel to statewide and district meetings on occasion.

Work Schedule

Typical work schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Salary Information

USA/MTA Grade 13.
