Minimum Qualifications Engineer B:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus six (6) years of experience in engineering acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.
Engineer C: Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.

This position supports the Austin Transportation and Public Works Department, Office of the City Engineer (OCE) Bridge Maintenance and Management Program. This is a lead position for the OCE bridge maintenance team and responsible for maintenance and update of bridge inventory and condition data, review and inspection of ROW structures, performing design and standard reviews, contract management, and other bridges and structures related O&M activities.
Additional Information:
This position is considered “essential” to maintain critical operations and core services, including public health, safety and utility services, in the event of an emergency. This means employees in this position will be required to report to work even in the event of bad weather, natural disaster, or other unforeseen circumstances that necessitate an emergency closure of City operations.
Travel: If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Pay Range Engineer B: $36.95 – $47.12
Engineer C: $38.78 – $50.42
Hours Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary depending on departmental needs and initiatives.
