Japanese company in San Francisco seeks Manager for Payroll and Benefits. Implementing and administering programs and systems associated with payroll, employment, benefits, compensation, communications, and employee morale. Assists with the development of these programs/systems and associated policies and procedures for these areas. Responsible for managing and administering all aspects of timely payroll processing and reporting. Responsible for the Payroll/HR database setup & maintenance. Responsible for standard and ad-hoc reporting associated with these functions.

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 plus full benefits
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Payroll Management - 40%
Manage biweekly full-cycle payroll
Administer Paylocity databases, maintain payroll/HR records, and ensure data integrity.
Manage the Fidelity database to reflect accurate employee information and deductions.
Implement systems for tracking employee leave and prepare payroll and benefit reports, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Stay updated on payroll regulations to ensure compliance with laws.
Oversee proper classification of exempt and non-exempt employees, communicate overtime and break rules to supervisors, and maintain accuracy in payroll records.
Ensure timely payroll execution and JSOX compliance, and act as the HR point of contact for internal JSOX audits.
Workforce Planning/Budgeting/Forecasting/Financial Analysis - 30%
Oversees payroll and headcount forecasting for the fiscal year, working with the Senior HR Director and department heads to ensure accuracy.
Tracks and updates compensation and benefits costs, prepares and analyzes budget and salary reports, and maintains updated hiring forecasts.
Communicates updates and variances to department heads and prepares monthly forecast reports for CUSA/CPI.
Benefits Administration - 25%
Responsible for developing competitive, cost-effective benefits packages for employees.
Plays a key role in the annual benefits renewal process, analyzing market trends and service provider offerings to ensure competitive and effective benefits.
Manages internal and external administration of company benefits, including website maintenance for vendors and brokers.
Serves as the primary contact for 401(k) and worker’s compensation audits, and other ad hoc inquiries.
Implements new benefit plans, tracks eligibility, and manages COBRA and conversion benefits.
Handles participant inquiries, processes claims, and maintains relevant documentation and records.
Compensation 5%
Responsible for evaluating and approving salary and compensation changes.
Participates in the annual review program, ensuring accurate documentation and updates in HRIS and payroll systems.
Reviews performance appraisals for consistency and uses compensation surveys to recommend base pay levels.
Manages data submission for compensation surveys, addresses employee inquiries, coordinates workers' comp claims, and handles additional tasks as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent with 5-8 years of related experience.
Experience as a senior level individual contributor or program manager in the field of Payroll & Benefits or Human Resources.
Requires excellent customer service attitude and communication skills.
Licenses, Certificates and Other
CPP desirable. PHR or SPHR certification a plus
