Description
Bishop McNamara High School is a private, Catholic co-educational high school in the Holy Cross tradition, offering its students a challenging college preparatory curriculum and a complete range of athletics and activities. The school, located in Forestville, Maryland, about 10 minutes from Washington, D.C and serves approximately 850 students, seeks a Director of Information Technology reporting to the President / CEO of the school and starts on July 1, 2024 (or earlier by mutual agreement).
The school seeks a well-rounded leader and innovator with proven results as a technology manager in a school setting. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
This role is responsible for all aspects of strategic planning and operational technology and data management systems.
Requirements
Oversee IT infrastructure supporting 850+ students and faculty, including hardware and network systems.
Strategic IT planning, integrating technology in educational strategies and leading digital transformation initiatives.
Display competency with administrative and instructional applications of technology.
Demonstrate working knowledge of fundamental network design and common network operating systems.
Install, maintain, upgrade, monitor and perform regularly scheduled maintenance on BMHS systems.
Evaluate and recommend hardware and software products to BMHS leadership.
Evaluate and recommend improvements in systems and processes to BMHS leadership.
Develop, document and implement policies, procedures and standards.
Provides professional development opportunities for technical and training support to staff to keep abreast of the rapid changes in technology and software.
Provide informal and formal training to system end-users as needed.
Diagnose and resolve trouble reports with direct access to and assistance from various equipment and service providers.
Develop and implement business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to school operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
Facilitate IT security audits or investigations.
Develop and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings, as well as, take advantage of related training and development opportunities.
Create and maintain a positive atmosphere of customer service, including continuous quality improvement, teamwork, mutual respect, professionalism and accountability.
Any and all other duties and/or tasks as assigned or requested by BMHS senior leadership.
Skills/Abilities:
Strategic planning and decision making.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management.
Proficient in Google Enterprise & Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Record keeping: accurately record information and documentation including time-tracking and Change/Work Request documentation.
Windows Server / Windows 10, Cisco Switches, Firewalls, Wireless Access Networks, Telephone Systems, VMware, Google Enterprise
Ability to address emergency and non-emergency situations calmly and thoroughly, applying common sense to the resolution of problems.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent analytical and management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends when required by systems troubles and implementation of resolutions.
Through understanding of IT and practical applications to support the school’s goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages, hires and trains IT staff.
Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the IT team.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree, with preference for a Master's degree or MBA
At least five years of experience managing an IT department.

While Bishop McNamara High School is located in Forestville, MD, you may live anywhere in the surrounding region, but be willing to make any commute to the school.
