Education Director

· Formulates and designs procedures to determine if program objectives are being met.
· Develops in-service training program for parents, providers and relevant staff,
· Determines formats and approaches to achieve program objectives; defines needs of target populations; researches trends at the community and local level, as appropriate to the position.
· Writes, edits, and coordinates development of course promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
· Develops and maintains records and databases on student and program activities, materials, equipment, and supplies.
· Execute on all aspects of personnel management, including but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, supervising, work planning, evaluating, and discipline.
· Plan and implement staff orientation and staff meetings.
· Serve as a mentor to teachers and staff, and actively facilitate professional development, by creating opportunities for staff to learn in formal and informal settings. Professional development opportunities should be in accordance with New York State Department of Education standards as well as the professional interests and goals of each individual staff member.
· Ensure staff is informed, involved, and integrated in the development and implementation of program outcomes and objectives, as well as individual goals and objectives.
· Provide positive influence in strengthening and developing an effective team, by inspiring and fostering camaraderie and teamwork.
Relationships with Parents and Families
Form warm and caring relationships with children and their parents and caregivers that honor the importance of all individuals in the community.
Effectively communicate the mission, vision, and goals of our programs to parents and families.
Act as a resource for consultation and guidance regarding parenting, child development, and education.
Communicate with parents regarding their child's progress, developmental or behavioral concerns, or class placements, as necessary.
Assist and guide children and families with celebration of cultural diversity.
Work collaboratively with, and provide leadership, programming, and support to, the Early Childhood Center Committee leaders.
Provide tours to new families, representing the vision, goals, and uniqueness of the school.
Exhibit respectful, fair, honest, supportive and positive behaviors in all interactions with parents and families, including welcoming people into the and Early Childhood programming, accepting and appreciating diversity amongst all community members.
Administration
Partner with FCC Network Director, Educational Specialist and Family Workers to provide effective publicity and outreach to continually introduce the school to the community and attract new families/encourage enrollment in our preschool programs, including creating opportunities for Early Childhood Center staff and volunteers to be out in the community.
Oversee the physical environment of the school, including classroom configuration and choices related to of all furniture, supplies, and materials.
Lead, manage, implement, and monitor long and short term strategic plans including specific outcomes for program performance, enhancement, growth, and reporting.
Design and manage the administrative support systems that ensure the curriculum and all programs align with the HACFS & FCC, vision for the program.
Develop, implement, and monitor annual program budgets through effective financial management and planning.
Review program fee structures ensuring they are competitive and align with funders mandates.
Maintain program compliance with New York licensing to ensure the health and safety of all children, and seek and receive certification from the New York State Department of Education.
Work collaboratively with other internal departments and community organizations to allow for the continuity of services for families and children and to encourage retention of their connection HAC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold MS ED in Early Childhood Education or NYS Teachers Certification.
Five plus years of teaching and/or supervisory experience in a similar position desired, with a proven track record of success, innovation, and growth.
Demonstrated strong supervisory, management, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Two plus years working with NYC educational vendors
Demonstrated experience in leadership, effective guidance, and stability for program continuity.
Knowledge of Community based day care programs
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Certified in First Aid and CPR.
Physically able to walk, kneel, crawl, bend, sit on the floor, and carry/lift up to 35 pounds.
