Our team creates reusable technologies to help with customer acquisition, onboarding, and empowering merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for both of these stakeholders. We also optimize tariffs and assortment in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost philosophy. We not only create affordability, but we also deliver customized experiences for customers across all channels - in-store, mobile app, and websites. Walmart Global Workforce Management team is made up of high-performing engineering teams around the globe. We are responsible for Labor planning and schedule generation for our 1.5 Million associates across US and worldwide. There are multiple key teams which own different parts of the planning and generation process and each team has full ownership of capabilities which together work to provide a seamless experience for all our locations around the world. We pride ourselves in providing a strong level of service with solutions that have high reliability and speed, strong robustness and an automated depth of understanding of system performance.

What you'll do:

As Director of Engineering for the GWFM team, you will be managing a team of 20+ engineers over time. The role entails the following responsibilities:

Technically lead and mentor a high-performance engineering team, engineering managers and provide strategic direction and guidance to ensure delivery of high-quality products

Build and manage relations with the business partners and understand their business requirements. Closely work with the Product Management, Business teams, Architects, and other cross-functional teams

Work with stakeholders to define the future roadmap of the products, adopt latest technology innovation wherever necessary

Build tools and automation to prevent re-occurrence of problems to mission-critical products and services and engender reliability and availability, starting with metrics and measurements

Define engineering practices, product development patterns and drive products development to scale to Walmart requirements.

Follow agile methodologies and program practices in product development lifecycle and focus on team productivity improvements using right tools and processes.

Hire talent, mentor and grow the team.

Proactively monitor, identify and resolve supply chain issues.

What you'll bring:

Strong engineering leadership expertise in medium to large size company.

Proven experience in hiring and mentoring world-class engineering teams.

Leading largescale systems in fast-paced environments,

Expertise in full stack technologies (Java, Node.js, React, NoSQL/SQL etc.)

Experience in one or more public cloud technologies like GCP, Azure, etc.

Experience in working in large teams using CI/CD and agile methodologies.

Providing thought leadership and defining technology strategies

Being an admired subject matter expert in one or multiple technology areas

Directing and reviewing architectural artifacts (for example, proof of concepts, prototypes, architectural design) and providing valuable recommendations for improvements

Advising or conducting POCs to vet out new technologies

Driving for Architecture, Engineering, and Technology excellence

Big-picture and strategic thinking

Prioritizing, focusing, and delivering tangible results

Delivering with agility, urgency, and quality

Building trust and credibility quickly with Sr. Leadership and stakeholders

Being a self-starter, with a positive and Can-Do Spirit
