Description
The Central Transportation Planning Staff of the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization seeks to hire a Website Administrator. The Website Administrator is responsible for managing the internal and external websites, contributing to site design, assisting staff with content edits through a content management system, maintaining the integrity and security of web-related data, and ensuring that the websites are functional, accurate, and current. The Website Administrator supports the continual development and improvement of both sites. The Website Administrator will also assist with user support and other IT-related tasks.
Responsibilities
Develops and maintains internal and external websites Coordinates the content, flow, and accessibility of information on websites; ensures web pages adhere to best practices, established policies, procedures, and guidelines for posting of graphics and text; and ensures content adheres to web content accessibility guidelines and requirements Collaborates with internal teams to create an appealing, engaging, and consistent user experience Oversees the technical development and implementation of page templates for the websites Reviews web content, links, and design; provides necessary updates and enhancements Implements appropriate security measures such as firewalls and cyber security best practices for the website infrastructure Conducts user testing and use analysis to assess usability and effectiveness of the website; recommends improvements based on analysis Drafts documents, and implements backup, recovery, and business continuity plans for the websites
Qualifications

Required A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, web development, or a closely related field Two to four years of experience Knowledge of principles and best practices of web page and website design, construction, and maintenance Knowledge of languages used in web development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL Knowledge of standard web strategies including client- and server-side processing, backend databases, and middleware. Knowledge of, and ability to follow, web content accessibility guidelines to meet federal and state requirements Experience managing cloud-based virtual machines, storage, content distribution networks, firewalls, and other resources Strong background in administering hybrid computing environments that include a mix of Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux operating systems Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve issues using independent judgment and decision-making processes
Preferred Knowledge of Drupal or WordPress Experience using PostgreSQL and writing SQL for queries and data manipulation Familiarity with Amazon Web Services Strong verbal and written communication skills including experience writing

Compensation and Benefits

The Central Transportation Planning Staff of the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization is a public agency made up of a passionate group of transportation planners, analysts, modelers, programmers, and engineers working to address the Boston region's transportation challenges. The agency's deep transportation knowledge is an essential asset to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), regional transit authorities, cities and towns within the region, as well as other agencies and stakeholders.
The agency has a hybrid schedule, combining time in the office with remote work. Employees must reside within a commutable distance from the Central Transportation Planning Staff's office, which is located in downtown Boston, in a transit-oriented and bicycle-friendly area.
