Principal Network Engineer
Santa Clara, CA, United States
NVIDIA Network Engineering seeks a versatile Principal Architect with industry experience to join our dynamic and results oriented team. NVIDIA's growth is reflected in the tremendous expansion of our networks, that operate in our clouds, on campus, in labs, data centers and partner sites. Do you like envisioning enterprise networks? Do you thrive in fast-paced growing environments, and excel at operations? Do you design in depth for defense and build security into the networks? This is our life’s work — to amplify human inventiveness and intelligence. We've only scratched the surface of what we can accomplish when we apply our technology to it. We need passionate, creative, and hardworking people to take on some of these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
What you'll be doing:
Lead and build a vision for the next-generation borderless networks that span clouds, on-prem, labs and partner locations; for context aware workloads that traverse clouds and on-prem facilities. You will create, own the network vision, the strategy around execution and measure its efficiency, efficacy and capacity to flex.
Deliver architecture, design and configuration standards, with deep knowledge of different environments.
Work with multi-functional organizations including our InfoSec and Product security organizations to build security intrinsically into our network DNA, ensuring the defense in the network.
Build the next generation WAN as a service including all aspects of architecture, design, deployment and operations of the network with insights and analytics, with regular performance measurement. Perform analysis and diagnosis of highly sophisticated networking problems related to WAN or Internet and be the go-to-expert for resolving network problems.
Automate everywhere, build repeatable design patterns, influence and guide the network observability ecosystem of our NOC by Tool Selection, Proof of Values and hands-on debugging incidents.
Be a trusted partner of our business units and users by planning, designing and coordinating the implementation of our connectivity strategy from Zero-Trust Network approaches to enabling connectivity for all our environments including garages. Plans and drives highly sophisticated network upgrades and migration activities.
Validate project requirements, define project scope, develop project schedules and produce detailed designs for assigned projects. Be an IT practitioner of IT processes such as change management, maintenance and deployment design patterns.
Mentor and inspire members of the team, collaborate with a One Team mindset. Passionate about documentation, and reviewing operating procedures and run-books.
What we need to see:
12+ years of network architecture experience
MS or equivalent experience plus proven track record in architecting and building enterprise grade networks for several types of organizations. Enjoys a fast paced- matrixed environment with an eye for details and excellence.
Experience and expertise in WAN network architecture and design in highly available, large-scale, multi-site, cloud environments globally. Expertise in IP internetworking and LAN Switching
Working experience with major global WAN and Internet providers. Authoritative level understanding of global submarine cabling and landing stations. WAN technologies (MPLS, DWDM, DMVPN, SD-WAN, Optimization) and experience in inter-AS connectivity (eBGP, MPLS, EVPN, VRF) including high availability protocols. IP Routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, EIGRP, BGP, PIM Multicast, Anycast). CCIE is a plus.
Experience on the latest hardware and operating systems (CRS, Nexus, IOS-XR, NX-OS, EOS Junos) along with virtualization technologies, both networking (VRF, VDC, EVPN) and compute (VMware, OpenStack)
Working knowledge of observability tools like Kentik, Netbrains, LiveAction.
Practical knowledge of SASE technologies such as Axis, Zscaler and Palo Alto Networks Prisma and Global Protect
Knowledge of network management, network availability and capacity management, and hands-on ability to solve. Experience with Interconnections to cloud providers (Direct Connect, Express Route)
