We are currently working on an original multiplayer game as part of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

THE ROLE
Firewalk Studios is looking for a QA Director who is interested in applying their skills to help bring exceptional entertainment to millions of players. As our QA Director , you will be responsible for driving our overall vision for quality assurance and testing strategy for the studio. You will be driving our test plans and schedule, managing our QA team, internal and external, and responsible for the overall quality of our game. You will foster a culture of empowered testers that confidently drive quality lockstep with the dev team.
WHO YOU ARE
Understands and will champion the importance of quality assurance for creating a quality game.
Excited to develop QA as an empowered discipline in the eyes of the studio.
Comfortable with ambiguity and resource constraints in a startup environment and still able to make incremental progress.
Proficient in commonly used tools for tracking defects, crashes, error logs etc. required for analysis of the game quality.
You are familiar with QA processes that include compliance, localization, dev ops, and automation testing etc.
Understand and champion the importance of quality assurance for creating a quality game.
Excited to develop QA as an empowered discipline in the eyes of the studio.
Comfortable with ambiguity in a startup environment.
Care deeply about creating and fostering healthy and strong teams.
You understand the importance of empathy and emotional intelligence in the workplace.
Able to hold long term vision while focusing on short term needs of the studio.
Can maintain a high-level understanding of the inner workings of the game and the supporting infrastructure.

WHAT YOUR DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE
Participate in daily triage with other leaders in the organization to help prioritize bugs.
Participate in studio level roadmap discussions and planning sessions to help ensure that QA testing is accounted for in the overall estimates.
Represent QA as a decision-making discipline that holds our studio accountable to a high standard of quality.
Working with your team and production to develop test plans for upcoming releases.
Collaborate with release management and live operations team to prepare the game for internal or public releases.
Collaborate with technical teams to refine the workflow for deployment of builds and testing process.
Provide comprehensive (yet digestible) reports on the game health to the studio leadership through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Worked as a QA director on at least 1 live services multiplayer game (or shipped multiple titles as a lead or equivalent)
Experienced in hiring and managing QA teams that include partnerships with external vendors.
Have a strong understanding of Jira or equivalent bug tracking software and its integration with other tools such as Slack/Confluence etc. You can write advanced Jira queries and understand how Jira’s internal bug flows work.
Have extensive knowledge of TestRail or equivalent test planning software.
Experience with the FPS genre a plus.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$211,400 — $317,000 USD
