Description

Merch on Demand is Amazon's print-on-demand business for graphic merchandise. Unlike other Amazon businesses, we own our entire flywheel and operate more like a startup. Our flywheel starts with Content Creators who upload and list graphic designs for sale on a selection of our blank products (t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, pillows, and more), with no upfront cost to them. Once submitted, the graphic design is reviewed for adherence to our Content Policy by both ML models and manual reviewers before it is listed in the Amazon catalog for sale. Live Merch products can be discovered, configured, and purchased by Customers before placing their order. Once an order is placed, it is routed to one of our dedicated Merch Production Centers across the world where the blank product is picked, the graphic design is printed, and the final product is shipped to the customer, often within 6 hours of placing an order. After the order is shipped, we pay a royalty to the Content Creators, incentivizing them to provide more selection. We utilize data engineering to manage our data infrastructure and provide business insights, and applied science to drive innovations in image similarity, product discovery, brand protection, and content generation.

Key job responsibilities

As an Engineer for the Merch on Demand team, you will play a key role in shaping the definition, design, roadmap and development of our Make-on-Demand Warehouse Management System, which handles all aspects of inventory management, order/shipment orchestration, and production management within each Production Centers across North America, Europe and Japan. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of end-to-end multi-tier software, thrive in a fast-paced environment and have experience developing web services and large-scale software.

They think in terms of architecture and not just code, and balance combining services to break down large problems into manageable domains, and the Operational Excellence (OE) required to maintain large distributed systems that power a network WW Production Centers

About the team

The Catalog team owns content moderation software for the graphic designs, and publishing products to the Amazon catalog across 7 marketplaces. We currently create about 4 million ASINs / day! And growing!

Our mission is to enable growth of Merch on Demand's selection for customers and content creators by enabling (1) the growing scale of new products created daily, and (2) new product type availability as part of our selection.
