Position: Communication Manager (Part-Time)
Location: Atlanta, Georgia – Old Fourth Ward
Salary: $23,000 - $28,000 + Benefit Package

Foundedin 1995, Dad's Garage Theatre Company (Dad’s) is a mid‐size theatre led by a professional artistic and administrative staff, with a professional artistic ensemble, and supported by over 300 volunteers. With a mission to transform people, communities, and perspectives through laughter, Dad’s entertains and educates more than 30,000 people each year. In addition to producing a season of original scripted works and 52 weeks of improv shows (5 nights a week, 8 shows average), the Dad’s team also produced a young audiences series, participates in festivals and touring engagements, fundraising events, and conducts on-site classes and workshops for the general public.
Description
As the Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing the public facing voice and ensuring that it aligns with our theatre's artistic vision and business goals.They would oversee the theatre's communications initiatives, focusing on public relations and communication strategies. This role requires a strategic thinker with a talent for storytelling, who can amplify our presence in the community and strengthen our connections with media outlets, businesses, and organizations. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator capable of executing high-impact campaigns that advance our theatre’s visibility and engagement goals. The candidate will speak for Dad’s Garage to current and new stakeholders. The CM has a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Develop and implement a comprehensive PR strategy for Dad’s Garage,
covering shows, special events, classes, corporate gigs, and DGTV.
Craft and distribute engaging newsletters and e-blasts to our diverse audiences.
Create and send out Press Releases around shows, events, and projects.
Maintain and expand our press list and contacts, produce press releases, and
coordinate all media interactions including articles, interviews, and television
appearances.
Manage and archive press coverage, and develop content for the Dad’s Garage
blog to keep our community informed and engaged.
Segment audiences for unique and distinct messaging
Required Skills/Qualifications
Excellent written, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage and move both short and long-term projects
Ability to stay plugged into what’s happening in mass media and popular culture
High level of flexibility and adaptability with timelines and competing priorities in a small team
Frequently use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards
Excellent project management skills - attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
Demonstrate sound judgment and present best ideas to the administrative team
Willingness to grow, learn, and follow directions
Fun to work with, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously
Desired Skills/Qualifications
Content creation, preferably in non-profit setting
Strategic thinking
Social media tools and practices ( Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
SEO Writing
Press and Media experience
Well-organized and detail-oriented
Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff members, volunteers, clients, students, and community leaders
Ability to meet deadlines with special attention to detail
Experience with public relations is a plus
