Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These internships include up to six months of on-the-job training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.

Our Software Engineers work in an agile, collective environment. You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout our development process. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle. We are seeking experienced Software Engineers with a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related Engineering field. In this challenging, fast-paced environment, you'll have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and experience to design and create the most groundbreaking aerospace and defense technologies - those that exist today and those that will shape tomorrow.

Success looks like:

• Innovative and able to provide vision into the art of the possible to support program and customer needs

• Passion for product development agility, velocity & quality

• Innovative thinker with good problem solving and communication skills

• Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum and Waterfall

• Familiarity with CM/build tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo and Subversion

• Ability to release software changes cost effectively

• Familiarity of object oriented programming design patterns

• Strong team player motivated by team success

Must-haves:

Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program

Bachelor's degree in related engineering discipline and 3+ years of relevant experience

Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools

Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices

Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams

Fluency in object-oriented languages like: Java, C++, C#

Strong mathematical fundamentals, including linear algebra and numerical methods

Preferred:

Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build

Experience with embedded systems and designing & developing software that interacts with hardware

Experience in Agile development

Proficient with data structures

Automate testing and command execution using a scripting language (e.g. Python, Shell Script, etc.)

An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is preferred
