Purpose The Assistant Vice President for Development in Health and Science will play a pivotal role in the historic and unprecedented endeavor to bring a world-class health academic medical district to central Texas. This role is focused on building a bridge between health and science focused initiatives happening on UT's campus and The University of Texas at Austin Medical Center. The AVP will partner with donors and academic leaders, faculty, research scientists and staff from across the Forty Acres to bring transformational ideas and high-impact goals to life through philanthropic efforts. This senior leadership position requires a candidate with a strong background in health care fundraising and a considerable understanding of health and sciences and research.

Responsibilities Fundraising strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy for health and science multi-disciplinary gifts, with emphasis on driving principal gifts across campus. A full strategy in this area will encompass opportunities in Dell Medical School, the Cockrell School of Engineering, College of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, College of Natural Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and more.

Fundraising: Carry an active portfolio of 25-75 prospective donors, solicit gifts, actively identify and qualify new prospects for health and science. Within 24 months of start date, consistently raise $5-8 million annually. Within 36 months of start date, consistently raise $10-15 million annually.

Donor engagement: Serve as a liaison between donors, academic leaders, colleges, schools and units (CSUs), and development professionals. Identify, assess and cultivate donors for the advancement of Texas health care and science; develop strategies for principal gifts solicitations.

Academic leader engagement: Collaborate closely with health care practitioners, health care providers, medical researchers, faculty, staff, and academic leaders, and CSUs across the University to identify funding opportunities, grants and partnerships that support innovative health care solutions.

Collaboration: Collaborate with the medical center's senior leadership, board members and volunteers to garner their support and involvement in fundraising activities.

Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations and ethical standards in fundraising practices.

Required Qualifications Proven experience in fundraising, preferably in an academic or health care setting.

Strong understanding of health science and health care research and practices, as well as allied fields of study, with the ability to effectively communicate these concepts to donors and stakeholders.

Leadership experience, including managing a team of professionals.

Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in using fundraising software and tools.

A commitment to the University's and hospital's mission and values.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
