Holocaust and Education Program Manager

The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston (JCRC) is a coalition of organizations and individuals that represents and advances the values, interests, and priorities of the organized Jewish community in Greater Boston. The Holocaust and Education Program Manager is responsible for building and implementing engagement of the Jewish community in JCRC’s Holocaust programming, including stewardship of the NEHM educational programs and working with the Director of Educational Partnerships to build a robust program portfolio engaging stakeholders in JCRC programming, like Student to Student.
This position reports to the Director of Educational Partnerships and must be based in the Boston metropolitan area. JCRC is currently hybrid and requires employees to be in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Responsibilities Include:
Expand and oversee educational programming connected to the New England Holocaust Memorial (NEHM) including tours, special programming, and updating and enhancing educational materials as needed
Liaison between Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) and JCRC on matters related to NEHM including marketing, public relations, and issues of the physical site
Direct the planning of JCRC’s annual Holocaust Commemoration for Yom HaShoah including engaging the broader community
Host annual Holocaust Essay Contest as part of the Yom HaShoah Commemoration by creating a prompt, distributing to appropriate outlets (schools, etc.), and selecting winners, with volunteer input. Plan the annual contest winners’ trip to Washington, D.C.
Plan and organize select events related to Holocaust education and the local survivor community, including the Yizkor Service, and International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Sustain and build strategic collaborations with key partner organizations, such as Facing History and Ourselves, Israeli and German Consulates, American Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors of Greater Boston (AAJHS)
Work with the staff of Be the Narrative, the home organization for Student to Student, to set up local program
Oversee all aspects of the Boston Student to Student program including: student and school recruitment, orientation, presentation logistics, school and student communication, follow-up and evaluation
Attend Student to Student presentations (or arranges for volunteer advisor to attend)
Creates and maintains Student to Student advisory committee
Implement evaluation mechanism for Student to Student programming
Communicate program progress to JCRC board, funders, and key stakeholders
Participate in fundraising and donor-related efforts, when necessary
Participate in JCRC staff meetings and trainings
Build partnerships and coalitions that help further the goals and strategic mission of JCRC
Additional responsibilities assigned by the Director of Educational Partnerships
Requirements:
Five or more years of directly applicable experience required
Three years of related experience preferred, preferably in non-profit, education, or program management
Bachelor’s degree required
Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 annually
