Job Description:
ANGARAI’s Structural Inspector will play a crucial role in overseeing and evaluating construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and regulations. This includes conducting inspections, reviewing plans and specifications, and collaborating with construction teams to ensure the structural integrity and safety of buildings and related structures.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conduct Inspections: Perform on-site inspections of various construction phases to verify compliance with approved plans, local building codes, and industry standards. Inspect structural elements such as foundations, framing, concrete, steel, and other materials for quality, safety, and adherence to specifications.
Review Plans and Specifications: Analyze architectural and engineering plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure they meet structural requirements and code compliance. Provide feedback and recommendations for revisions if necessary.
Document Inspection Findings: Maintain detailed records of inspections, noting any discrepancies or non-compliance issues. Prepare written reports summarizing inspection results and provide them to relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with Construction Teams: Work closely with contractors, engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to address and resolve any structural issues or code violations. Provide guidance and recommendations for corrective actions.
Stay Current on Building Codes and Standards: Keep up to date with local, state, and national building codes, regulations, and industry best practices related to structural engineering and construction.
Provide Technical Expertise: Offer technical advice and expertise to project teams regarding structural design, materials, and construction methods.
Ensure Safety Compliance: Monitor construction sites for adherence to safety protocols and regulations, with a focus on structural safety.
Attend Meetings: Participate in project meetings, providing input and updates on structural aspects of the construction process.
Minimum Qualification and skills:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Current registration as a professional engineer/architect in the State of Maryland.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection, preferably with a focus on structural elements.
In-depth knowledge of local and national building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in using inspection tools, software, and relevant technology.
