Overview

TRC is seeking aMid-Level Civil/Environmental Engineer to support our growing Environmental, Construction & Remediation practice in New England and New York (and beyond) managed from our Lowell, MA headquarters.

This position offers aflexible remote/office work arrangement potential.

The successful candidate will have experience in the design and implementation of soil and groundwater remedies and be engaged in their career via continuing education, reading technical journals, trade journals, attending vendor/supplier/regulatory webinars, etc . The successful candidate will help manage projects, develop and expand TRC's Engineering practice in New England and New York, and will mentor and develop emerging engineering talent to facilitate work across technical disciplines.

TRC's Lowell office provides access to a broad spectrum of multi-disciplinary professional experiences in an office that succeeds on teamwork, development, and growth.

Responsibilities

Work with Senior Project Managers to scope, cost, plan, and execute remediation projects;

Prepare for work activities, e.g ., plan field work, develop work plans, and coordinate with subcontractors and clients;

Delegate work effectively to junior staff to meet project goals

Shepherd the training and development of emerging staff talent through collaboration, coaching, and varied and diverse work assignments;

Interpret geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data from contaminated sites (and collaborate with TRC’s geologists and hydrogeologists to establish conceptual site models;

Evaluate, design and implement soil and groundwater remediation systems, including developing rationales and cost estimates;

Assist in the development of field work plans and manage field work execution;

Prepare air and discharge to groundwater permit applications;

Write and review technical documents, reports and designs, ensuring consistent delivery of materials.

Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control of deliverables pertaining to projects and tasks self-managed, as well as projects and tasks managed by others, in accordance with TRC’s procedures.

Work well with dynamic project teams and junior staff.

Maintain a billable utilization target and perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget for the scope of work and schedule with minimal supervision.

Have strong communications skills, both written and oral.

Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic regional travel and client support.

Qualifications

B.S. degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering.

EIT is required, PE license (Environmental or Civil) in Massachusetts or New York is a plus

Minimum eight (8 to 10) years of groundwater and soil remediation experience in a consulting engineering firm environment, with progressive responsibilities in task management and remediation design.

Field experience with construction oversight, subcontractor oversight, drilling, soil classification, multi-media sampling, well installations, and remediation systems (installation, shakedown, OMM, retrofits).

Knowledge of Massachusetts environmental site remediation regulations and technical guidance.

Experience with design support, cost estimating, procurement (contracting, requests for proposals, and bid evaluations/selections)

40 Hour HAZWOPER certification and current annual renewal.

Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Conversant with Microsoft Project or equivalent project scheduling packages.

Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.

Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate as part of a team.

Detail-oriented with troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.

Ability to handle multiple project commitments at one time.

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S., M.Eng., or PhD. degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering.

LSP, LEP, LSRP a plus

Project management experience.

Experience with New York State and Federal environmental regulations.

Proficient in one or more of the following: AutoCAD Civil3D and 3-D Visualization Software.
