Job Description
Brookfield Properties has an immediate need for an Accountant-Financial Reporting at the corporate office in Chicago, IL.
The Accountant's primary roles include monthly and quarterly GAAP and IFRS financial statement preparation for consolidated and joint venture properties, assisting in the preparation and analysis of financial information required for consolidated and joint venture financial statements, preparing affiliate transaction reporting, and managing the disclosures for a portfolio of consolidated and unconsolidated shopping malls.

Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures for GAAP and IFRS quarterly and annual reporting
Produce financial reporting information for the Company’s joint venture partners and respond to their requests timely
Work with auditors to assist in quarterly and year-end audit procedures including audit requests
Perform monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement variance analysis
Prepare quarterly affiliated transaction reporting for management
Assist in preparation of quarterly GAAP and IFRS transactions log
Ensure compliance with internal controls for SOx purposes
Coordinate with other departments (i.e. Property Accounting, Treasury, Finance etc.) to ensure all information is submitted to Financial Reporting timely
Take part in the Company’s initiative to implement new enterprise system
Assist with special accounting and financial reporting projects, as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA preferred
1-2 years’ experience in SEC or other public filing reporting
Big Four public accounting or real estate experience a plus
Current knowledge of GAAP and other sources of authoritative accounting guidance, such as IFRS
Ability to work productively in a team setting
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proactive, deadline focused and organized
Strong analytical ability and proven problem-solving skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
Past experience with accounting software preferred, such as JD Edwards and OneStream
