Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. The Medical Biller will be responsible for corresponding between the practice, the patient, and insurance providers. The Medical Biller will collaborate with clinical leadership and administrative staff in all aspects of his/her duties. This position will have on-site training to begin and then become a remote role. This role requires onsite training in Massachusetts. Candidates must be based in the New England area.
This position will report to the Revenue Cycle Manager.
This role is non-exempt, and hybrid.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Act as a liaison between the practice, patient, billing consultants, and insurance companies
Handle patient and insurance billing, including:
Assist scheduler and front desk staff with registration of patients, including insurance verification and authorization tracking
Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies electronically
Perform ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding for office and facility-based visits
Prepare and post vascular reading charges accurately
Maintain accurate and timely preparation of billing data
Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding patient coverage, billing inquiries and issues
Ensure the settlement of claims between the practice, insurance companies, and patients
Maintain invoice records to patients for remaining balances after insurance payouts
Conduct regular follow-ups on outstanding accounts and unpaid claims.
Support accurate and efficient billing processes and financial close
Process payments from insurance companies
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines and ensure a high level of discretion due to the sensitivity of patient information
Complete ad hoc projects as needed to support the billing and revenue cycle management team
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required, associate or bachelor's degree preferred
2+ year of experience in the medical billing field required
Strong knowledge of vascular medical coding
Skilled at the use of various computer programs
Exceptional customer service skills
