Moffitt Services is looking for a General Manager, West Texas. The role will require a balance between managing day to day frontline staff as well as balancing operational strategies surrounding productivity, warehouse and inventory optimization, and fleet management. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients, and promoting our drilling solutions to achieve revenue targets and business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to fostering a positive team culture that encourages open communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Manage staff of 20-30 employees.
Direct reporting responsibility for Administrative Staff, a Driver Manager, and a Field Supervisor/Warehouse Manager.
Indirect reporting responsibility for Truck Drivers and Warehouse Personnel, which report to the Driver Manager and Field Supervisor/Warehouse Manager.
Responsible for comprehensive training, goal setting and effective performance management.
Manage and monitor the performance of dispatch staff, providing training and guidance to improve productivity and service ensuring optimal efficiency, effective routing of trucks and personnel ensuring on time deliveries.
Build and maintain a robust working relationship with customers, vendors, and key stakeholders within the business.
Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards are being practiced across all functional activities.
Continuously assess and improve processes, identifying areas for cost reduction, performance enhancement, and risk mitigation.
Function as the field liaison to corporate management by communicating successes, opportunities for improvement, sales trends, ideas, competitive information, and concerns to continually improve market performance.
Manage all Midland based inventory including fuel, lubricants, and parts/equipment and ensure inventory control procedures are in place and operational.
Manage the daily purchasing, transportation, and inventory of all bulk fuel.
Select and manage local vendors as required (for fleet repairs, tires, equipment, parts, etc.
Proactively identify operational issues wherever possible and implement a plan of action to correct and continue fleet operations.
Collaborate with all stakeholders (customer service, payroll, dispatch, and management) to address questions, formulate operational plans, address, and resolve problems, and process requests for service or equipment.
Facilitate meetings with business units/facilities leadership to identify operational cost or service improvements and align to execute.
Monitor progress of area’s key performance indicators (KPIs) actual vs. target monthly.
Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations (including but not limited to DOT, HAZMAT, OSHA, TCEQ, etc.).
Other related tasks and projects as assigned by manager.
Qualifications 7+ year of supervisory/managerial experience/People management experience
Experience in the fleet management space, either in working at a fleet management company, providing one or more core fleet management services, building fleet management software, or as a user (e.g. fleet manager) of fleet management services
Demonstrated effectiveness in large, complex, highly matrixed organizations.
Must be able to function independently and proactively.
Ability to operate and flourish in a fast-paced business.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel, Adobe, Word etc.).
Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and other departments internally.
Education Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Transportation or Logistics
