Description
POSITION: Group Leader- SACC Program
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator
STATUS: School Year, Part time,
Benefit level (after six months probationary period)
Reports directly to the Site Coordinator.
Before School hours: 7-9:30 / After School hours: Depends on site
Responsibilities:
Provide direct supervision to a group of up to 13 school age children grades K1 - 5th, providing for their physical and emotional safety and well being at all times;
Work with Site Coordinator and other program staff to plan and implement a well-rounded fun curriculum for the site, including teaching a literacy, math & health curriculum, supervising & tutoring homework.
Support specialists in music, art, dance, and chess, culminating in a two performance showcases (December and June). Lead specialist activity blocks if specialist is absent;
Plan and implement other daily group activities as needed showing initiative and creativity, including vacation weeks and holiday program days;
Help monitor, document, and file group attendance each day;
Help monitor, support and document homework each day;
With the Site Coordinator, make sure all program policies, rules, and regulations are enforced;
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as requested and as required;
Make daily contact with parents when they pick up their children to share accomplishments of the children and advise of upcoming events;
Work in a team effort with the Site Coordinator, program staff, and other BSCC staff;
Whatever else is deemed necessary for the good of the program.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Previous experience with a minimum of 1-year experience working with school age children;
Must meet all EEC licensing requirements for Group Leader;
Must be dependable and trust-worthy,
Must be compassionate and sensitive to the needs of children, parents, and coworkers;
Must have experience working with a diverse group;
High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred or college credits;
Spanish Speaking a plus.
