Perception Scalability and Infrastructure supports both Waymo's Onboard and Offboard systems. It is an extremely high functionality and performant real-time system, and supports our machine learning development including data extraction, evaluation, debugging, visualization, and data mining. It also supports systems development including testing, performance analysis, and deployment. Waymo has a massive amount of sensor data logged from real-world driving, which is necessary to our engineering development. Scalable perception offboard infrastructure is at the core of engineering excellence. You will report into our Head of Perception Scalability and Infrastructure.

In This Role, You'll

Lead organizational efforts to improve efficiency, deployment time, developer experience, maintainability, and visibility of our systems

Design and implement shared data and modeling infrastructure

Optimize ML training throughput, resource utilization, and research velocity

Collaborate with teams across Waymo Perception and Research

Build tools for automation

At a Minimum We'd Like You To Have

10+ years experience

Experience in C++, Python and System Design

Familiarity with Google Infrastructure: Flume, Spanner, Borg, Tensorflow, JAX, or Guitar

Experienced with scaling a machine learning system to multiple deployments

Excited about building solutions to complex problems

Experienced in Robotics or Machine Learning

It's Preferred If You Have

Experience deploying large-scale production systems with many ML models

Experience optimizing High-Performance systems

Experience with HLO, Triton, GPU, or TPU optimization

Experience with PyTorch

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Salary Range

$221,000—$276,000 USD
