Supervisory Transportation Program Specialist_

Summary This is a public notice for FTA authorized Supervisory Transportation Program Specialist (2101) positions open to U.S. Citizens. Responsibilities The Supervisory Transportation Program Specialist will serve as The Director of Planning and Program Development, provides leadership and expert technical guidance to carry out the Region’s core functions related to grant and project development, which includes all state and local planning, and environmental compliance activities which support critical infrastructure investments. The Ideal Candidate is a senior-level professional with strong leadership skills, who has managed diverse staff, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and accountability; and with transportation industry experience in developing and managing complex, high priority programs. Experience in leading and directing staff, providing direction to contractors, and tracking and evaluating their performance. Experience developing transportation and/or transit grant awards in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes. Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Federal Funds Processing: Knowledge of methods and procedures for processing direct and reimbursable program funds (for example, automatic and funded reimbursements, interagency agreements, transfer appropriations), grants, loans, and credit programs. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Written Communication: Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience. For all types of consideration, experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
