Sr Linux System Admin

A DOD affiliated research center for a large university customer is looking to bring on a Sr. Linux Systems Administrator. This person will be primarily responsible for managing and reducing the existing backlog along with migrating end of lifecycle systems to latest supported operating systems. This person will be a primary pillar of support for 20-30 Linux machines and 180 users, requiring them to be autonomous and an independent thinker. Long term, this person will be maintaining systems, growing capacity, building out high performance computing solutions, etc.

* 3+ years of experience with Linux specifically networking, and connecting to heterogeneous environments -- 3+ years of hands on Linux Systems Administration experience in an enterprise environment doing troubleshooting, upgrades, management, support, metrics and monitoring
* Familiarity with Security Assessment tools and Security Frameworks (NIST, ISO, NMP, NESSUS, Rapid7)
* Working experience supporting LAM, Confluence, Jira, trac, SVN, GIT, JAMPF and/or Zendesk
* 3+ years of security experience specifically prioritizing security of systems. Someone who has been in charge of properly patching Linux systems and able to maintain and audit that level of security.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Government background
* Experience working in a federally funded entity (sounds better than govt background)
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
* Visual effects background
