BIM Engineer
CSP is partnering with a reputable Commercial, Industrial, and Residential HVAC and Plumbing company located in Harford County, MD.
Job Summary:
The BIM/VDC Engineer role entails overseeing coordination and BIM-related activities for designated projects. Reporting directly to the VDC Manager, this position ensures the accuracy, currency, and accessibility of all project models and shop drawings for the project team.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain BIM/VDC protocols and best practices for the company
Participate in project turnover meetings to comprehend the scope of work and ascertain necessary
VDC activities for contract compliance and project success
Review design models on new projects to identify constructability challenges, design issues, and potential RFI or change orders early in the project lifecycle
Collaborate with coordinators to review submittals for equipment and accessories to ensure model accuracy
Conduct QC checks of models completed by coordinators, whether internal or external subcontractors, and monitor their progress
Coordinate with project managers to schedule deliverables ahead of construction activities
Provide training and mentorship to coordinators for skill and process development, and offer hands-on assistance as needed to maintain project schedules
Interact with Construction Managers or General Contractors to ensure BIM model accuracy and integration
Generate and track RFI’s regarding coordination or BIM related issues to ensure comprehensive conflict resolution
Maintain detailed records and documentation related to BIM projects, including version histories
Assist coordinators with project setup, including software customization and troubleshooting
Attend kick-off meeting and weekly coordination meetings as a representative of the team to foster professional collaboration within the greater BIM/VDC coordination team.
REQUIRED Job Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience as a BIM/VDC coordinator specializing in mechanical or plumbing systems using Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD and Navisworks
Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Outlook, Word, Teams, and OneDrive
Comprehensive understanding of construction drawings and specifications across all disciplines
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems, materials, and installation practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment
PLUS Job Qualifications:
2+ years of field experience within the MEP trades. Focus on plumbing or mechanical piping
Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, or Revizto
Experience with providing supporting files for use with robotic layout tools such as Trimble RTS
Detail-oriented, quality-minded, and self-driven with a willingness to learn new systems, software, and processes
Demonstrated eagerness to tackle design challenges head-on, coupled with a genuine desire to craft innovative solutions for the customer that effectively address design or construction challenges and deliver a completed project on time and under budget.
